About the opportunity

As an Application Architect, you will report to the VP of Development and provide expert guidance and architectural leadership for the transformation of Ceridian HCM product to the Next Generation Cloud Native Architecture based on Microservices and Event Driven Design.

You will split your time between multiple development projects, proof of concepts and internal technical initiatives. You will design new modules and provide technical consulting to development directors, development managers and teams on highly complex, often global, requirements analysis, architecture, system design, systems integrations and implementations.

What you'll get to do

• Provides expert level technical consultations and analyses, solving complex problems.
• Assumes leadership role in designing solutions, organizing, attending and leading hands-on design sessions with the engineering teams.
• Designs solutions at an abstract/conceptual level as well as at a detailed level.
• Provides technical leadership and subject matter expertise to the engineering teams.
• Drives continuous improvement in product, processes and tools; developing and implementing new or enhanced technical methods and techniques to improve the development practices.
• Works with other Solution Architects to ensure knowledge sharing across development teams and ensure that consistent problem-solving approaches are developed.
• Provides mentoring and peer coaching including hands-on peer code reviews (PRs)

Skills and Experience we value

• 10+ years of software industry experience
• Experience as an Application Architect or similar role
• You have the insights and practical knowledge to proactively assess the technical, cost, support, and risk implications of potential solutions and incorporate these into implementation recommendations.
• You have deep business acumen and thought leadership experience.
• You are skilled at building and managing relationships. You can gain trust, influence decisions and teams, and work with internal and external contributors and stakeholders at any level.
• You understand how to manage client expectations, navigate tough discussions and manage escalations.
• You exercise independent judgement in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
• You can effectively manage solution designs within scope and recognize needs for change requests where required.
• You are able to execute and/or advise on change management strategies with development teams.
• You have a wealth of experience with designing for enterprise and global solutions.
• Expert level hands-on experience in designing and building of Microservices and Event Driven Solutions using .NET Core and/or Java/Spring Boot stack and Kafka.
• Expert in Cloud Native Architecture with Kubernetes on one of the public cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, GCP.
• Expert level hands-on experience in designing and building web and mobile-based application architectures, solution architecture, design principles, relational and No-SQL databases, caching solutions and messaging technologies.
• Expert level hands-on experience in triage and troubleshooting of performance issues of critical applications and systems.
• Expert hands-on skills in CI/CD and in-depth knowledge of DevOps.
• Expert in unit test/automation frameworks and performance testing tools #LI-Remote
