As an Android Engineer- Solutions Engineering, you will be a key member of our Solutions Engineering team. Coding, building, and supporting proof-of-concept AOSP implementations for Esper’s customers will be a key part of the role, along with contributing to Esper’s flagship Android build - Esper Enhanced Android. Through this you will get the opportunity to work with some of the best minds in AOSP and help innovate Android for commercial use cases. A deep technical understanding of AOSP supplemented by familiarity of Cloud technologies, Android app development, and a passion for Android hardware combined with strong technical collaboration skills working with our internal dev team will set you up to directly drive the technical relationships with companies building pioneering AOSP-based solutions as part of a team effort.

You’ll also help with our co-development efforts with key members of the Android ecosystem, including OEMs, ODMs, and Silicon Vendors. You'll be dealing with very innovative companies building cool solutions - and you’ll be helping them do it with Esper. Bonus - we have a growing device lab with all types of Android devices from vanilla GMS to exotic AOSP custom built hardware.

Requirements

• Experience with the AOSP code base in either a community or business setting
• Deep understanding of Android platform tools such as adb and fastboot, as well as Android shell commands.
• Practical knowledge of Android hardware as an Android enthusiast
• Passion around AOSP and Android in general
• Comfortable working with other software developers
• Excellent communication, analytical, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

Nice to Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science, or equivalent experience Exposure to AWS
• Familiarity with Android Studio (plus Java and/or Kotlin)
• Functional in Python
• Worked with Windows and comfortable with a variety of command line tools
• Installed modded ROMs, even better if you’ve built them from source
