About the job
The Red Hat Ansible Consulting team is looking for a Ansible Automation Consultant to join us. In this role, you will promote the adoption of Red Hat's solutions at our key enterprise accounts, government agencies, and service provider partners. You'll work in-person and remotely to win the trust and confidence of customers' engineering, development, and operations teams by matching their requirements and use cases with functional capabilities of our solutions. As a Ansible Automation Consultant, you'll need to have detailed working knowledge and practical experience with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform and a high level of familiarity with Chef, Puppet, Salt, and similar technologies on the market. You'll also need to use your solid understanding of DevOps methodologies and tools to apply them within target organizations. This is a remote position with future travel to customer sites and can be located anywhere in the United States within close proximity to an airport. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

  • Serve as the on-site Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform subject matter expert
  • Deliver and support the deployment of Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform automation for enterprises
  • Design, create, and deliver content that will enable us to design, service, and support our automation solutions at scale
  • Frequent travel in the future will be required to work alongside leading financial services, retail, telecommunication, and institutional customers, in line with Red Hat COVID-19 guidelines


What you will bring

  • Background in architecting and designing complex customer solutions in a rapidly evolving technology domain
  • Experience with cloud environments and their supporting infrastructures
  • Solid background in a consultative customer engagement role with a major consulting services organization or in the services division of a major software company
  • Proven record of working in a strategic advisory capacity to senior IT and business executives
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; considerable experience presenting to C-level executives at large firms
  • Solutions sales mentality in an environment with multiple offerings and solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to work seamlessly with distributed cross-functional teams to achieve success on behalf of customers
  • Good balance of strategic and tactical skills; high level of mental agility and capacity for original thought
  • Ability to study on your own and quickly learn and put into practice new facts
  • Passion for open source, software, tooling, and automation
  • Intermediate-level scripting in Bash or Python
  • Experience implementing a continuous integration (CI) or continuous development (CD) pipeline
  • Broad and deep technical experience with one or more virtualization and cloud technologies like Red Hat OpenStack Platform, Red Hat Virtualization, VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Microsoft Azure
  • Knowledge of container management and orchestration tools
  • Comfortable working with highly distributed teams, including interacting with open source communities by email and IRC
  • Familiarity with security fundamentals at the infrastructure and operating system level, including the cloud environment and hypervisors
  • Experience across one or more industry areas is plus
  • Experience working in a quality assurance role or with ticketing systems or bug tracking tools is a plus
