Additive Simulation Engineer
Company Overview:
Relativity is the first and only company to automate aerospace manufacturing by integrating intelligent robotics, software, and proprietary metal 3D printing technology. Disrupting 60 years of aerospace, Relativity offers a radically simplified supply chain, building a rocket with 100x fewer parts in less than 60 days. Our long-term goal is to upgrade humanity’s industrial base on Earth and on Mars.
Team:
The Additive Development group is responsible for the development and maturing of the core additive manufacturing technology used to produce Relativity’s orbital-class launch vehicles. The Additive Simulation Team develops the analytical tools for predicting residual stresses, distortions, and damage tolerance of Relativity’s additively manufactured components.
What you’ll do:
You will integrate our simulation tools into Relativity’s proprietary workflow for producing the world’s largest 3D printed structures. You will be responsible for developing software products that automate our simulation capabilities and add additional functionality and resolution across models of several physical length scales.
What you need to know:
- BS or MS in engineering or computer science
- Expertise in solid mechanics and heat transfer analysis using CEA software
- Demonstrated experience in using scripting languages to extend the functionality and automation of CAE tools (Python, C++)
- Design, implement, and test new software products and capabilities for new feature enhancement of our simulation capabilities
- Experience with CICD tools including GitLab
- Experience solving complex problems with multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience with high-performance computing
Nice to haves but not required – if you do not meet all of these criteria, you should still apply:
- Ph.D. in engineering or computer science
- Experience writing numerical solvers
- 3+ years in software development
- Direct experience with ABAQUS
- Experience with advanced automated and dynamic meshing methods
- Experience solving engineering problems in robotic arc-welding and WAAM applications
- Experience developing, debugging, and shipping software products spanning multiple platforms and tools
- Proficient in common database languages (SQL, PHP, Python, R, C#)
We believe varied perspectives & backgrounds strengthen our team. Prior experience in aerospace is not required.
Relativity Space offers competitive salary and equity, a generous vacation policy, an annual Learning & Development stipend and more!
