Active Safety & Viewing Subsystem Lead Engineer
Description
We are looking for a high-performing Subsystem Lead Engineer who is responsible to create and maintain active safety and/or camera-based subsystem/component software specifications in IBM DOORS software. They will also architect the subsystem and ensure all applicable features/functions are comprehended. The Sub-system Lead Engineer (SSLE) is considered the expert for the system design and performance, including troubleshooting.
- Root cause all applicable subsystem related issues
- Create and maintain applicable subsystem/component software specifications in IBM DOORS Software
- Implement new feature/functions related to the applicable subsystem
- Create mechanization drawing with the assistance of the architecture group
- Create subsystem requirements
- Review software models to ensure compliance to requirements
- Create, Maintain and review DFMEA's for Subsystems assigned
- Review Owner's Manual and Service Information related to the Applicable Subsystem
- Provide intimate knowledge of hardware and software interfaces
- Provides technical leadership for advanced technology development
- Performs complex design analysis
- Develops engineering designs (including subsystems)
- Implements engineering changes
- Communicates information to and from internal and external customer Organizations
- Works with engineering functions, suppliers, plant personnel and others to implement cost reduction, methods and product improvements, and to support build programs
- Plans and implements test and/or development programs
- Releases parts and subsystems for production
- Communicates information to and from internal and external customer organizations
- Coordinates and consults with departments outside engineering, such as manufacturing
- Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products
- Travels as needed
Additional Description
Requirements
- BS in Engineering, Physics, Math, Computer Science, Information Technology or Chemistry and 5+ years of experience
- Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
- Demonstrated proficiency in writing and comprehending software/hardware requirements
- High level knowledge of software verification/validation processes
- Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
- Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- Results driven individual with high levels of initiative
Desired Skills
- Experience in performing system and component level DFMEAs / DFMEA training
- DFSS Certification
- SAFe Certification
- Program Management / Project Management Skills
- Software, controls and/or wiring experience
- Design/Development of Safety Critical Systems/Components
- Familiarity with Global A and VIP (Global B) GM vehicle architectures
- Prior experience negotiating between parties
- Prior experience outside automotive a plus for fresh perspective
- Electronic Validation Experience
- Knowledge of computer software as it pertains to engineering
