Department OverviewAs the Federal Division continues to explore opportunities beyond the core business, the Department of Defense Sales Team has identified unique opportunities in the Private Tactical 5G space. In order to support these exciting and challenging 5G opportunities, the Systems Integration team has created a 5G Strategic Business Unit (SBU). The 5G SBU will be responsible for managing all technical and business aspects of the forthcoming awarded contracts to include: Scope of Work, Schedule, Resource Management, Subcontractor Performance, Customer Communication, and Financial Performance. In addition, the Federal 5G SBU will be responsible for working closely with our Federal Sales team and providing critical feedback to our Pre-Sales teams for future opportunity planning.
Job Description
Position Duties:
As part of the Federal 5G SBU, you will be joining a newly formed team that will be leading the evolution of the 5G Tactical communications space for Motorola Solutions (MSI) U.S. Federal Government 5G SBU. You will be responsible for planning, designing, and architecting MSI’s 5G solutions in accordance with the contractual requirements and defining new solutions, features and applications for future business opportunities. As the 5G Solutions Architect, you will be responsible for overseeing and leading all technical aspects of our solution and will own the overall design architecture. As such, this position will have responsibility for development and implementation of end-to-end secured mobile solutions from end user devices throughout the 5G architecture. As the 5G Solutions Architect, you will also provide technical leadership and direction to vendors and internal organizations as required.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
Consult with the Pre-Sale Design team to successfully transition each awarded contract to the 5G SBU team and provide periodic feedback during the implementation phase to continually improve future opportunity offerings.
Lead and define the technical solution architecture in accordance with the contractual scope of work(s).
Define 5G enterprise security architectures.
Develop threat frameworks against 5G architectures.
Perform systems engineering for enterprise solutions that include 5G.
Define and perform 5G proof-of-concept testing and experimentation.
Assess security threats associated with 5G use cases and develop mitigations to address those threats.
Understanding of 3GPP Release 16 features for 5G Networks including IAB and Network Slicing.
Excellent understanding of 4G/5G LTE network architecture and 3GPP specifications.
Working technical knowledge and experience in 5G use cases of eMBB, uRLLC & mMTC across private networks.
In-depth working knowledge of 4G and 5G virtualized 3GPP Core network, RAN, cloud computing, TCP/IP networking, and IP Routing.
Experience with LTE and other wireless data systems in lab, field trial and production environments.
Knowledge of common best practices for site survey, network design, and network design validation.
As a solution architect, designed, delivered and supported wireless solutions globally for a wide range of entities including Fortune 500 companies or major government entities.
Past experience with architecting and delivering complex platforms and developing enterprise-level technology solutions.
Ability to author, present, and articulate problem sets and associated solution elements in settings supporting customers, business development, program delivery, technical teams, and executives.
Self-starter, capable of working independently and building strong cross-functional relationships.
Comfortable in ambiguous and rapidly evolving situations with the ability to structure complex problems in simple, easy-to-understand ways.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and influence
Identify and define gaps in our 5G solutions for both current and future 5G opportunities and communicate accordingly for action and follow up.
Lead and define detailed architecture system diagrams to facilitate the implementation phase and contractual documentation requirements.
Knowledge of developing end-to-end 5G solutions with emphasis on Security Architectures.
Continually evaluate third party vendor equipment used in our 5G portfolio.
Work with third party vendors / subcontractors to ensure delivery of requirements set forth by the contractual design.
Lead and direct solution architecture testing and evaluation assessments as well as troubleshooting and resolution of issues.
Lead and define feedback to the Federal PreSale teams.
Additional Requirements:
10+ years of experience as a technology-based technical leader in telecommunications.
7+ years of working with complex system integration projects.
5+ years of 4G LTE or other cellular data system experience in private deployments in Federal, national security, government or enterprise markets.
2+ years of direct experience and deep technical knowledge of 5G NR RAN, Core and/or OAM in a network environmentStrong understanding of effective network design methodologies.
Experience with troubleshooting and assessing live networks
Subject matter expert in wireless LTE and 5G networks and enjoy the challenge of learning and developing new approaches to deploy 5G Federal solutions and services.
Experience with the following Manufacturers Hardware: Motorola Solutions, Juniper, Nokia, Airspan, JMA, Ericson, HP, Fortinet.
Knowledge of different media types: Metro Ethernet, Frame-Relay, Ethernet, SONET.
Knowledge of physical layer backhaul options such as: fiber, Copper, and wireless broadband options such as Point to Point or Point to Multipoint Microwave and wireless mesh technologies.
Experience in scripting/programming is a plus.
Experience with Microsoft Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google applications required.
Experience with use of command line and/or GUI interfaces to provision equipment.
Experience with Network Management Applications a plus: Solarwinds, JUNO-Space, Nokia SAM/NFM-P, Provision
Experience with Cameo SysML and other Model Based Systems Engineering tools.
International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification is preferred.
Familiarity with DoDAF is preferred.
Self motivated, excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
Works collaboratively and builds relationships with other colleagues, customers, and third party service professionals.
Understanding of Cybersecurity and latest DISA/NIST/NSA standard practices for Zero Trust Architecture.
Ability to travel as needed with limited notice (25-50%)

Basic Requirements
Bachelor's (BS) Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience required. Note: Masters degree preferred.
10+ years experience with Cellular / Private LTE Networks
US Citizenship with ability to obtain a US Secret Clearance required
