Role Summary

Mavenir is looking for passionate and self-motivated engineers to contribute to the 4G/5G RAN PHY development and system integration.

The ideal candidates will have professional experience in communications and networking technologies along with expertise on RAN software development and system integration.

You will be part of the 4G/5G development team that will design, implement and diagnose 3GPP protocols, O-RAN interface, FPGA and embedded software. You will participate in end to end integration of 4G/5G NR communication systems. You will work closely with hardware, software and system engineers with broad experience in communication systems development.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, test and debug software for 3GPP PHY protocols and O-RAN interface
  • High-PHY (frequency domain) codes in C language
  • Low-PHY (time domain and analog) codes for FPGA and embedded software
  • Timing synchronization
• PHY performance simulation and performance qualification (e.g., BLER, EVM) through link-level simulations
• Develop end-to-end (E2E) setup diagram and bill of materials
• Perform E2E system integration, testing and validation
  • Use lab equipment and test software such as VSA, VSG, QXDM, X-CAL, etc., to quantify the quality of the integration, and troubleshoot
  • Bring up the end-to-end system from CU, DU to UE
  • Conduct full buffer and sweep tests
  • Fix issues arising from system integration,
  • Debug lower-PHY FPGA, embedded software issues, as well as high-PHY software issues
• Work with 3rd party RRU vendors to resolve the O-RAN interface issues
• Work with system engineers to bring the up-to-date O-RAN interface to the system
• Participate in the field test (customer FOA) and provide technical support and debugging patches

Job Requirements

• Expertise in the following areas:
  • Bring up and testing 4G/5G systems in E2E Network
  • 4G/5G PHY software development (C/C++)
  • Timing synchronization, GPS, PTP, IEEE-1588, etc.
  • FPGA and embedded software
  • Protocol level log analysis
  • 3GPP RAN1 and O-RAN standards
  • Lab equipment and test software: VSA, VSG, QXDM, X-CAL, etc.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• M.S. or Ph.D in EE, majoring in wireless communications, minimum 3 year experience in telecommunications industry
