Group Summary:
The Mechatronics, Mirrors and Lighting group specializes in automotive technologies that are driving the future of mobility. Job Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY:
Maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery, building mechanical equipment and systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Completes preventative maintenance to ensure the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. May include, but not limited to, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, bowl feeders and production machines. Identifies sources of problems by observing machinery in operation, listening for problems, using testing equipment, analyzing test results, reviewing machine error messages, using information obtained from the operators, interpreting schematics and other methods. Examines parts for defects and removes defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, hand tools and power tools. Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts and using rules, calipers, micrometers, voltmeters and other measuring devices. Adjusts functional parts of device and controls instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs and straightedges. Repairs or replaces broken or malfunctioning parts of mechanical equipment. Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment. Maintains equipment, parts and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level and anticipates needed equipment, parts and supplies. Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests. Maintains technical knowledge through various methods that may include, but is not limited to: attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications and establishing personal networks. Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results, as needed. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product. Understands the responsibility for health and safety in the workplace. Cooperates with regulatory inspectors. Wears the appropriate personal protective equipment. Follows all safety rules. Will not remove or make ineffective any protective device such as a guard, light curtain, etc. Will not use or operate any machine or equipment that the employee is not trained to operate. Will not use or operate any machine or equipment in a manner that may endanger any employee, including themselves.
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION EXPERIENCE:
Completion of a 4-year apprenticeship program certified by the U.S. Department of Labor. Must obtain and maintain a valid powered industrial truck operator permit and a State of Michigan Driver's license. Must be able to work with minimum supervision and guidance. Requires the use of judgement, organization, initiative, teamwork, creativity, problem solving and commitment to tasks. Requires bending, heavy lifting, reaching, working in cramped and confined spaces. Commitment to continuous learning.
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Knowledge of MIOSHA standards and various industrial building/construction codes. Knowledge of grinders, lathes, welding, milling machines, and gauge blocks. 90- days of maintenance experience, preferred. Minimum of 1 year Magna seniority required.
