The Role

US Base Salary Range: $56,300 - $105,000 DOE

About the Role

The Data Services Specialist serves as a technical contributor within the Data Operations team, balancing technical proficiency with client interaction, and strategic execution. The specialist oversees high-impact data workflows, and ensures alignment between technical execution and organizational goals. This individual will frequently engage with internal stakeholders and external clients to deliver and improve custom data services.

Your Impact

In this role, you will work with a team of data engineers to design, build, and maintain robust data infrastructure and pipelines that support NGPVAN's data products and analytics initiatives. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data availability, quality, and security, and you will play a pivotal role in shaping data strategy, learning and growing technical skills on the team, and driving innovation in data engineering practices.

Team Overview

You’ll be joining NGP VAN Data Operations team, a collaborative group committed to delivering scalable, efficient, and impactful data solutions. The team works in close partnership with product, analytics, and engineering teams across the organization to unlock the value of data and enable informed decision-making at scale.

Requirements

  • Experience managing complex data engineering projects

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language such as Python or R, with a focus on building and optimizing data workflows.

  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable data pipelines, data warehouses, and ETL processes.

  • Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) and orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow).

  • Proven experience working in data engineering teams in a collaborative environment focused on delivering results and adapting to evolving priorities.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with data governance, data privacy, and compliance best practices.

  • Understanding of DevOps practices and infrastructure-as-code tools

  • Passion for using data to drive social impact and mission-driven work.

This position is part of a bargaining unit represented by CWA Local 1400, 2336 or 13000​.

Compensation and benefits for this role apply to full-time employees in the United States and may vary based on local standards, laws and norms. Pay is determined by location, skills, experience, and education, and is one part of NGP VAN's total rewards package, which may also include bonuses, incentives, equity, and a comprehensive benefits program.
