Job Summary

We are seeking a Director of Sales to join our Target team in our office in Minneapolis, MN. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about retail strategy, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is eager to drive successful business partnerships between Target and our vendor partners. Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and driving key relationships with our client base of fast-growing, innovative brands to achieve both their goals and the goals of our retail partners.
  • Actively manage and enhance the business through a focus on key objectives of the stakeholders, merchandising, displays, pricing, and product launches.
  • Maintain and develop strong relationships with our clients. Ensuring that the business plans put forth have strong alignment with their goals and objectives.
  • Serve as the primary contact for specific retailer category buyers.
  • Source and solicit new business opportunities through effective network management, trade shows, and digital tools.
  • Work closely with the Bluebird Retail Account Manager team to ensure outstanding operational excellence. (On time shipping, strong in stocks, etc)
  • Develop strong rapport with third party service providers and promote partnerships that help deliver upon our clients’ needs.
  • Promote a customer-centered culture that strives to exceed all needs, requirements, timelines, and expectations.

Qualifications

Candidates should be highly motivated, innovative thinkers who know how to drive success in large retail formats.  We are looking for a strong team player that deeply understands how to effectively communicate and drive results.  Other qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Retail industry work experience
  •  5-7+ years sales/merchant level experience with Target required
  • Advanced project/process skill set, including experience in P&Ls and financial analysis
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing brands in a large retail format
  • Category management and/or consumer/shopper marketing experience
  • Highly organized and ability to juggle multiple categories
  • Ability to travel as needed (less than 15%)

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

  • remain seated or standing for extended durations, often more than 50% of the workday. 
  • constantly operate a computer and other office equipment like printers, calculators, and copiers.

  • move items such as boxes of files, office supplies, or other equipment that weigh up to 10-20 pounds.
