The Director, Operations Risk & Control is responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day operational processes and activities of GreatAmerica are executed in compliance with established policies, standards and processes.  This includes designing and documenting our operations quality assurance program, testing of activities, developing reporting and creating ongoing monitoring of our existing and evolving processes.   This role serves as the first line of defense, supporting operational teams, escalating issues and driving resolution through process and/or technology enhancements. 
 

As a Director, Operations Risk & Control, you will:

  • Develop strong working relationships with Operations, Compliance, Risk, and Internal Audit leaders and teams.
  • Understand the needs and relevant business processes of the business units, including how current and potential regulations may impact them.
  • Collaborate with the legal compliance team and regulatory compliance team in the creation and updating of operations policies, procedures, guidelines, and forms that align with legal and/or regulatory requirements.
  • Assist and support Legal, Compliance and Risk in developing and coordinating risk assessments as part of GreatAmerica’s risk and compliance management programs.
  • Establish and maintain a system to monitor, test, and evaluate the effectiveness of the operations quality assurance program, including implemented mitigation activities, to identify deficiencies and implement process and control improvements and/or other remedial actions.
  • Document internal testing and other quality assurance activities and prepare reports to communicate the outcomes of such activities.
  • Track and escalate operations issues, breaches, and process exceptions, following issue management protocols.
  • Deliver and/or assist with training and support to operations staff on GreatAmerica’s regulatory compliance program.
  • Support requests from Legal, Compliance, or Risk in connection with exams, internal and external audits, and third-party assessments on matters relating to operations and the operations quality assurance program.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable leasing and banking regulations and industry standards and communicate this information to frontline teams.
  • Actively participate in company-wide initiatives and help GreatAmerica’s business units and teams achieve their goals.
  • Prioritize projects and risks to meet deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
  • Conduct oneself in a manner consistent with GreatAmerica’s principles.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to GreatAmerica’s success.

Note:  Under the Iowa Supreme Court rules governing the practice of law, all work involving the provision of legal services is to be done under the supervision of a lawyer.

To be successful in this role you will need:            

           

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree is required

Experience

  • Prefer 5+ years of experience in compliance, preferably with an audit or banking background

Computer Skills

  • Proficient in using the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint; experience with SharePoint and InfoPath a plus.  Strong MS Word and Excel skills.
