What You’ll Be Doing

Global Money Operations (GMO) provides back office support for Payment Product Services, FX/MM settlement, and Investigation capabilities for corporate, government and institutional clients around the world, as well as leads the modernization of the Wires infrastructure. As the Director, Data Innovation Governance and Service, you will be responsible for CIBC’s end-to end ownership of production support, payment settlement applications and associated application data governance, testing and innovation across the Enterprise, including CIBC Parent Bank and Bank USA. You will be responsible to support the standards and controls required to initiate and receive wire payments across the enterprise ensuring that there is end-to-end process resiliency, adherence to data quality processing requirements of the regulators in our various operating jurisdictions and supporting industry changes and resiliency. In addition, as the incumbent, you will be responsible for leading and executing the future operational framework and modernization of our internal processes to support implementation, people change management, industry change and standard application support and testing. You will drive to these standards and govern them through your internal processes and ensure we have action plans and programs in-place, including execution of these programs, while leading a high performing senior team.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Demonstrated Payment Experience – As a Payments SME strong understanding of High Value Payments processing, SWIFT, ISO 20022, payment system transformation, AML/Sanctions, CIBC payment related systems , accounting and settlements and associated risks.

  • Strategic Consulting: You leverage your comprehensive background in implementation and to provide leadership, specialized advice and integration support to key stakeholders and senior leaders across the enterprise. The team you lead will be expected to contribute to the Program Delivery operating model and testing/production support for enterprise-wide initiatives.

  • Partnership and Collaboration: Work with partners and suppliers inside and outside of CIBC (e.g. SWIFT, Payments Canada, Correspondent Banks, etc.) to support payment products and to execute new initiatives. Act as a key liaison in obtaining agreement for new payment service plans across key CIBC stakeholders and rethinking the current legacy landscape. Seek input and buy-in from partners and develop ongoing relationships with partners. Identify, prioritize, and influence backlog items to improve the client experience by innovating our operational payment transformation and testing playbooks.

  • Effective Delivery and Managing through Change: You have delivery experience in large, enterprise-wide transformational initiatives and knowledge of and experience with tools and techniques for planning, organizing, monitoring and controlling projects. You drive, manage and execute projects and initiatives in alignment business objectives through all channels while supporting the business goals, objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

  • Identifies Business-Building Opportunities: Monitor market environment (consumer, technology, payment networks/associations, new innovations, competition and government/regulatory agencies) to understand the impact on change. Assesses the long-term viability of identified opportunities to maintain or improve CIBC’s competitive position and risk posture. Ensure comprehensive competitive information on market penetration, product capabilities and initiatives is maintained. Build support across business units/segments/key functional areas for implementation of plans. Seek input and buy-in from partners and develops ongoing relationships with partners

  • Leading and Mentoring – Support end-to-end operational support as a subject matter expert, and provide guidance to a diverse team of business, technology and project professionals. Maintain a collaborative work environment and support team members to resolve organizational, operational, and process problems.
