The Director Market Access and External Affairs, will play a crucial role in advancing the company's public policy objectives, fostering relationships with key stakeholders, and advocating for policies that support patient access to our therapies. This position will require strategic thinking, excellent communication and networking skills, and a deep understanding of the healthcare landscape in Austria.

Key responsibilities:

Market Access

  • This individual will possess a strong understanding of reimbursement and health care policy and processes. The role will play a key role in the cross-functional Market Access Group, supporting both pipeline and new market opportunities within BeOne

  • Support, define, develop, and execute market access initiatives & strategic pricing & reimbursement contracts for the products at all levels.

  • Elaborate negotiation tools and coordinate negotiation strategies for the products at national, regional and local levels.

  • Accompany, in close cooperation with other departments, the development of reimbursement dossiers in Austria

  • Supporting the preparation of various negotiations with relevant stakeholders.

  • Department budget management & tracking / finance planning.

  • Key contact person for hospital pharmacists and purchasing groups

  • Ensure that all activities related to your job comply with the applicable external and internal regulations (policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and code of conduct).

Corporate Communications

  • Develop and execute integrated communications strategies across earned, owned, and social media channels

  • Create and manage high-quality content including press releases, media briefings, speeches, Q&As, and opinion articles

  • Manage media inquiries in collaboration with agency partners

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with national and specialist media outlets

  • Collaborate on external communications for major milestones (e.g., product launches, scientific congresses)

Internal Communication & Employee Engagement

  • Design and implement engaging internal campaigns and communication formats

  • Serve as communications partner to the Country Manager and functional leads

  • Translate strategic messages into localized internal narratives

  • Drive transparency, collaboration, and cultural alignment through communication

Government Affairs:

  • Develop and implement government affairs strategies to influence healthcare policy in alignment with the company's objectives.

  • Build and maintain relationships with government officials, policymakers, and regulatory agencies.

  • Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments at the local, national, and international levels.

  • Advocate for policies that enhance patient access to treatments and support innovation in the biopharmaceutical industry.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to assess the impact of proposed legislation and regulations on the company’s operations and strategic goals.

  • Prepare position papers, policy briefs, and other materials to communicate the company’s positions to external stakeholders.

Patient Advocacy:

  • Develop and execute patient advocacy strategies to support patients and caregivers in accessing and benefiting from our therapies.

  • Establish and nurture relationships with patient advocacy groups, nonprofit organizations, and other key stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with patient advocacy organizations to understand patient needs and integrate their perspectives into the company’s policies and programs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with internal departments, including Clinical, Regulatory, Medical, Legal, and Commercial teams, to align government affairs and patient advocacy strategies with business objectives.

  • Coordinate with global teams to ensure a consistent approach across all regions

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in market access, government affairs, public policy, patient advocacy, or a related field within the healthcare or biopharmaceutical industry.

  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful market access, corporate affairs, government affairs and patient advocacy strategies.

  • Strong understanding of the healthcare landscape, including regulatory, legislative processes and market access.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to ethical conduct. Strong social skills to facilitate cross-functional collaboration.

  • Exceptional organizational and project management abilities.

  • Proficiency in using communication tools and software.

  • Fluency in German and English.
