Job Description:

Sun Life Hong Kong is embarking on an large-scale digital modernization, including a agile-based transformational change in the way we delivery organizational change. To this end we need to completely modernize and empower our technology and delivery teams to be highly-skilled, high-performing and an engaged workforce; then establish and monitor the targets and measures for success.

This role is critical for building the roadmap of what our target organization looks like, and delivering upon the execution of the plan. Key elements include driving the locations strategy, maximizing the capacity of talent at an optimized cost rate, building a technology capabilities plan, including continually driving training, skills development and coaching around agile abilities. In addition, this role will be the owner of the strategy, and all the measures and tracking associated with it. This includes a high-level of stakeholder management, both local, regional and global.

Key Requirements:

  • Strategic Planning and Monitoring
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategy that supports the organization vision.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to align IT initiatives with business priorities
    • Identify and set the measures of success, and establish ownership for each measure as well as its regular tracking and reporting
  • Skill Development and Training
    • Assess the current skills of the IT team and identify areas for development
    • Design and implement training programs to enhance technical competencies and promote skill development across the IT workforce, ensuring the team is equipped to meet evolving business needs.
  • Location Strategy and Execution
    • Develop the plan for optimizing the location strategy for the Technology and Digital function, including assessing the optimal mix of onshore, SLGS Philippines, India and other locations
    • Establish a plan for offshoring of identified skills, and executing, including the skills transfer, change management and establishment of frameworks
  • Culture Transformation
    • Drive a culture of innovation, collaboration, and adaptability within the IT department
    • Encouraging engagement and commitment from team members to embrace new methodologies and technologies.
  • Change Management
    • Lead change management initiatives to facilitate the adoption of new technologies and methodologies
    • Ensure clear communication and support for employees during transitions
  • Performance Oversight
    • Establish and monitor reporting mechanisms for IT performance metrics
    • Oversee functional quality tracking to ensure that IT services are delivered effectively and meet established performance standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization
    • Engage with business leaders to understand their needs to ensure IT solutions align with those needs

Capabilities:

  • Strong knowledge of IT strategy development and execution
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to engage and motivate teams while managing change
  • Proficient in performance measurement and quality assurance practices
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Strong advocate for continuous learning and development

Expected Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum 10-12 years of progressive experience in IT management role, with a focus on strategy and capabilities
  • Proven track record of a) Driving an IT Strategy, defining measures for success, and tracking those, b) Driving high levels of skills development and engagement c) deep experience in onshore/offshore interactions and maximizing the effectiveness of offshore teams
