Summary:
Director of IT – Enterprise Integrations will serve as the chief architect and strategist for our digital nervous system. This is not just a "maintenance" role; it will lead the charge in evolving our API ecosystem from a collection of points to a resilient, scalable, and high-performance enterprise platform. It will be responsible for defining the technical vision, fostering a culture of engineering excellence, and managing the critical vendor relationships that power our infrastructure. This position will thrive on turning complex architectural puzzles into streamlined, stable business solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Engineering Leadership
- Team Evolution: Identify, mentor, and develop the next generation of engineering leaders. You aren't just managing tasks; you are building a high-performing "squad" culture.
- Capability Building: Define the standards for "what good looks like" in code quality, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing within the integration space.
2. API Ecosystem & Architecture
- Platform Vision: Lead the design and deployment of API strategies using MuleSoft (or comparable gateways like Apigee or Kong).
- Lifecycle Management: Oversee the full API lifecycle—from initial design and security protocols to versioning and eventual retirement.
- Technical Roadmap: Align integration architecture with broader enterprise goals, ensuring our tech stack supports rapid business scaling.
3. Stability & Resiliency Operations
- Zero-Downtime Philosophy: Implement robust monitoring, alerting, and self-healing mechanisms to ensure 99.99% uptime for mission-critical integrations.
- Incident Post-Mortems: Lead the "Blame-Free" post-mortem process to turn system failures into long-term architectural improvements.
4. Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Strategic Partnerships: Manage relationships and SLAs with key vendors (MuleSoft, AWS, SaaS providers), ensuring we maximize ROI on our tooling.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Act as the bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, translating complex technical debt or requirements into clear business value.
Required Skills and Experience:
Technical Expertise:
- Deep experience with MuleSoft AnyPoint Platform or leading API Gateway solutions.
Architecture:
- Strong command of Microservices, Event-Driven Architecture (EDA), and RESTful API design.
Leadership:
- 8+ years in IT/Engineering with at least 3+ years in a senior leadership or directorial role.
- A Bridge builder (literally and figuratively) who understands that an API is only as good as the business process it enables.
- possess technical gravity goes deep into the weeds with senior developers but can also present a 3-year roadmap to the Board of Directors.
- Prioritizes Stability over "Shiny" - believes that a boring, stable system is a beautiful system.
Resiliency:
- Proven track record of managing high-volume, high-availability integration environments.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, or equivalent experience (Master's preferred).
