Position Summary
GEICO is seeking an experienced Director of Digital Auto Sales Engineering team to lead our Personal Auto digital Sales team. This is an exciting opportunity to drive high-performance, best in class consumer aimed at advancing GEICO’s market leadership in auto insurance. Your teams will work closely with the insurance product, platform central DevOps, to deliver new insurance models to consumers and agents for every state.
Position Description
The Director of Digital Auto Sales will partner with engineering staff to build innovative, open-source, high-performing solutions that integrate seamlessly with our existing insurance products and applications. This role is responsible for setting and executing a tech strategy that allows you to have a smooth state rollout with high velocity, scale and high quality. You will collaborate with business, product, and peer engineering teams to ensure solutions are aligned with both technical and business goals.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and Mentor Teams: Hire, mentor, and coach the engineering teams and leaders, ensuring they have the skills and resources to achieve individual and organizational success.
- Drive Technical Roadmap: Define and execute a technical strategy to rollout insurance products to states for both consumer and agents with high velocity and high quality.
- Technical guidance: Tease out and identify technical/process hotspots and create a tech roadmap that solves technical/process inefficiencies to drive high velocity and high quality. Build a high performing self-driven team to rollout smoothly.
- Collaborate Across Functions: Work closely with peer engineering teams, insurance product and platforms, central DevOps, and business units to deliver aligned solutions that meet both technical requirements and business needs with high quality.
- Resource and Project Management: Oversee resource allocation, budgeting, prioritization and scheduling working with your product counterparts.
- Operational Support: Manage production support to ensure application availability, stability, and performance, with a focus on simplifying operations and enhancing scalability.
- Develop KPIs and Reporting: Establish and report KPIs to measure progress and drive data-informed decision-making.
- Build Relationships: Foster strong partnerships with technology teams and business leaders within commercial insurance.
Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience managing teams of 25+ engineers, with a focus on cross-functional management across full stack engineering and DevOps.
- Proven leadership in building and delivering large scale complex projects to production with speed and high quality.
- Ability to tease complex technical/process problems and provide technical guidance for the teams to execute.
- Strong understanding of front-end, backend, data, architecture, and its application within large scale industries or domains.
- Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and DevOps tools such as GitHub, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD practices.
- Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and computer science principles.
- Fluency in SQL, Power BI, and Snowflake, with experience in application monitoring and performance evaluation.
- Exceptional communication skills, able to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with applied AI frameworks and libraries, with experience in creating reusable components and frameworks is a plus.
Experience:
- 10+ years of technically strong professional software engineering experience, including lifecycle best practices.
- 5+ years in development within large-scale, mission-critical environments.
- 5+ years of direct leadership experience in technical environments.
- 2+ years of managing managers and leaders
- Experience in front-end and backend teams, integration, and end-to-end functional workings.
- Experience in regulatory industry like insurance is a plus, but not needed.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Annual Salary
$136,325.00 - $212,175.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
