The Role

Summary:
San Diego Union-Tribune is seeking a Digital Account Strategist to join our team! The Digital Account Strategist is responsible for prospecting event and digital revenue opportunities as well as assisting in maximizing performance of current customer accounts specifically for events services. This role will also support a Director of Events and their accounts to ensure seamless event campaigns execution, providing a high-level of client service support & interaction for Skyline.
This is a remote role (except for being on site for events) and is open to candidates that currently live in San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles.
What you will do:

  • Source event and digital revenue opportunities
  • Prospect for new clients as well assist other sales executives on event strategies on a as needed basis
  • Provide profitable event service strategies and recommendations
  • Build effective proposals, assist or lead sales pitch and presentations
  • Interpret and analyze event and digital marketing efforts during the pre-sale process, compile data to help the close of the business
  • Manage the day-to-day execution of large/major ongoing advertising accounts and campaigns to meet client's objectives
  • Monitor campaign effectiveness and make recommendations to customers that result in effective advertiser solutions
  • Liaise with content, creative services, sales, and analytics regarding planning and prioritizing to assist in execution of the campaigns
  • Cultivate positive professional relationships with clients, vendors and internal teams
  • Be part of the sales and digital operations process, and assist in sales and customer service efforts; providing excellent sales, service, and marketing support is critical to our digital competitive position
  • Oversee day to day operations in the department including campaign trafficking, delivery, optimization, inventory forecasting, analysis, and reporting to all supporting internal and external customers
  • Other duties as assigned


What you will bring:

  • Excellent customer communication skills, consultative selling skills preferred
  • Event planning experience preferred
  • Ability to work on site for events, including set up and after event clean up/tear down
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Can embrace change, take initiative and work well in a collaborative, learning work environment
  • Detail oriented, ability to organize, plan, prioritize and re-prioritize workload effectively
  • Takes initiative to collaborate with the team to contribute to revenue retention and growth, and enjoys working in a fast-paced team environment
  • Understands the short and long term customer/consumer needs to assist with new business generation and customer retention
  • High degree of accuracy is required in all aspects of the job


The hourly wage is $21.64. This position is eligible for incentive compensation (commission) and cell phone reimbursement. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, MediaNews Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, and 401K plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).

Employees engage in a combination of remote and on-site work.

The majority of our roles are 100% remote excluding Production & Circulation although some roles require customer visits or occasional in office work. We do not have any intention of returning to an in office environment/culture.
