The Role
Lark is looking for a Senior UX Researcher with experience employing a variety of research methods to thoroughly explore users’ needs, attitudes, motivations, and behaviors. The Senior UX Researcher will collaborate closely with designers and product managers to deeply understand our user base and generate actionable insights to drive product direction and design decisions. The right candidate will be skilled at communicating across departments to share findings and generate empathy for our users.
What You’ll Do
- Work closely with product and design teams to identify, design, coordinate, and execute user research initiatives
- Examine existing data, designs, and prior research to identify research gaps
- Conduct a wide range of research types including interviews, usability studies, competitive analyses, diary studies, card sorting, and surveys
- Collaborate with the data team to generate hypotheses, design quantitative analyses, and interpret user data
- Combine qualitative and quantitative information to generate a comprehensive understanding of user behavior, attitudes, and motivations
- Develop personas, empathy maps, journey maps, and other design research artifacts
- Communicate across departments, presenting hypotheses, proposals, and research results and insights in compelling and creative ways
- Generate actionable insights to improve and evolve the product, and work with the design team to incorporate these insights into design initiatives
- Document and share user research best practices with other researchers and designers
- Continually advocate for the end user
What You’ll Need
- Basic understanding of quantitative, behavioral analysis, and statistical concepts
- Experience with a range of qualitative user research methods including interviews, usability studies, competitive analyses, diary studies, card sorting, and surveys
- Understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of different research methods and when and how to apply each one
- Experience creating and communicating design research artifacts
- Ability to effectively and creatively communicate research findings and insights; ability to craft compelling stories about our users and their interactions with the product
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Computer Interaction, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Design, UX, a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
- 7-10 years user research experience
Working at Lark
Lark offers the option to work remotely in the United States. For Colorado Applicants only: minimum annual salary is $98,000 (minimum salary varies for other geographies). You may also be offered a bonus, stock options and/or benefits. The company is headquartered in Mountain View, CA.
