As a UX Designer at Ancestry you would be an essential part of our UX team reporting to a Director of UX & Design. We have critical UX problems to solve, but we also honor harmonizing our work and life. After all, our business depends on strengthening family ties.

Who you are...

  • As a UX Designer at Ancestry, you’ll work closely with customers, product managers, and software engineers to define, design, prototype, update and create new products that can make the task of discovering family history easier and more enjoyable.
  • You want to do meaningful work and make a difference in people’s lives. Ancestry’s mission is to “empower journeys of personal discovery to enrich lives.” You love history, storytelling, and connecting people.
  • You should be an optimistic problem solver. You like taking on difficult design challenges, even when they might not be glamorous or in the spotlight. You know how to use creativity to find unique solutions to difficult problems.
  • You have experience in all areas of product design including user research, task analysis, visual design, and interactive prototyping.
  • You are empathetic to our customers’ needs. You are a great listener and strive to understand customer challenges. You know how to validate your designs to ensure that they are usable, meet accessibility standards, and solve real problems.
  • You collaborate well with others. You work well with other designers, product managers, front-end-developers and engineers on agile teams. You adapt quickly to change and are open to feedback, critique in order to continuously grow and improve.
  • You are excited about owning the design and user experience for one of Ancestry’s key features. You know how to make smart decisions that will make a positive impact on the business and make the experience better for our customers.

What you will do...

  • You have a minimum 2 years in UX product design and a bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • You must have a design portfolio with case studies of real projects you’ve worked on and can articulate the value that your work contributed to the business and customer experience.
  • You must have a track record working with cross-functional teams such as product, engineering, and marketing teams.
