Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Structural / Computational Specialist for the Civil & Infrastructure sector, to assist and support the implementation of our digital and design automation solutions within Enterprise Capabilities Team.

This role will offer flexibility for hybrid remote work schedules and can be based from a wide variety of AECOM office locations in the US or Canada.

This person will report to the Digital Automation and Integration Lead and in addition to project utilisation for workflow definition, design & production the Digital Design Specialist will assist with the development of global tools and processes. This will require that the person appointed to this role is an expert in several different areas, including:

  • Expert user of digital production platforms; Revit, Civil3D, Dynamo, InfraWorks, Rhino, Grasshopper in the context of the above.
  • Creator and author of Dynamo definitions using otb Dynamo nodes as well as creating and maintaining custom created nodes and workflows in Autodesk DesignScript and Python
  • Parametric modelling, creation and development of smart objects, Revit Families, and adaptive components with customisable functionality and custom-built parameters for automation
  • Digital tools deployment, ensure that development is focused on production team usage, for example, automated workflows can be operated by technicians using Dynamo Player or Orkestra, once development has reached a suitable status, script libraries and smart objects can be packaged and deployed, provide guidance.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Desire to develop career within digital project delivery and contribute toward resourcing design technology computational design and building information modelling department.
  • Proven track record of computational design modelling with Autodesk Revit and Dynamo and/or Rhino3D and Grasshopper for Structural, Civil & Infrastructure Projects; attention given to parametric family creation and advanced Dynamo knowledge.
  • Oral and written communication skills in English

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS plus at least 6 years of relevant experience in AEC projects working as Computational Designer/Computational BIM Modeller; preferably transportation infrastructure projects (bridges, tunnels and miscellaneous complex structures) or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Must be willing to be flexible for global working hours

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within transportation infrastructure projects
  • Technical design and construction knowledge in bridges and structures design.
  • Working knowledge in available opensource plug-ins/Add-ins eg pyRevit, RhinoInside
  • Working knowledge of any of the following will be considered favourable: Revit, Revit API, Forge, Dynamo, Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, RhinoInside, Python, C#, Excel, Power BI
  • Architecture, Engineering or Computational Design degree or similar professional education
  • 7+ years BIM modelling with Autodesk Revit
  • Software accreditation will be considered favourable
  • Previous experience working for Transport Authority clients in the USA and/or Australia will be considered favourable

Offered rate of compensation (Colorado locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is: $59,000 to $109,000.
