Staff UX Researcher

UX Researchers at Chewy play a critical role in bringing the voice of the customer into the organization, by listening to pet parents and partners, identifying unmet needs, and inspiring company-wide innovation. We are seeking a Staff UX Researcher in Boston, MA, Plantation, FL, Minneapolis, MN, and Bellevue, WA, or potentially remote. The ideal candidate is curious about and empathetic to pets and pet parents – and helping them live their best lives. Each day will bring the opportunity to work alongside designers, UXR program managers, engineers, and product managers who genuinely love pets and pet parents. The ideal candidate will be excited to uncover opportunities with existing and new products and services and make an impact for pets, pet parents, and how UX Research evolves at Chewy as a whole. What You'll Do:
- Plan and deliver research on complex and ambiguous user needs where the space may not be well defined or understood
- Test design solutions for existing constructs that may not be well understood
- Connect and communicate how your work ties to larger business goals
- Work cross-functionally to drive consensus and guide the team through filling knowledge gaps
- Identify and advocate for key customer needs and business opportunities to put the customer first
- Plan, estimate, and conduct complex research initiatives
What You'll Need:
- 7+ years of experience as a UX researcher, academic researcher, or similar role
- 4+ years of experience leading large-scale initiatives and mentoring researchers in your area of expertise
- A track record of delivering high-quality research that delivered results and demonstrate the depth of your research skills, illustrated through case studies
- Proven experience communicating and presenting complex user needs clearly
- A proven ability to evaluate the customer and business impact of your research decisions
- Bachelor’s Degree in user research or a related field or equivalent professional experience
- Position may require travel or time in the local office

For any solution you propose, you can clearly articulate the pros and cons. Your judgment allows you to make smart trade-offs between time and effort to ensure the best possible outcome.
Build High-Performing Teams:
You model customer first thinking and behaviors and mentor your peers to help us create a high-functioning team that is continuously learning and improving research delivery, output, understanding and impact. You coach peers in research skills you mastered to continuously improve research quality. When you see an issue, you act quickly to resolve or escalate it.
