Our growing User Experience team is seeking a passionate and versatile Visual Designer who understands and appreciates digital design from a customer, partner, and brand perspective. In this role, you will help influence our work that touches millions of lives across In-Vehicle, Web, Mobile and Wearable interfaces.
Job Description
As a Visual Designer within our Launch Readiness team, you will collaborate closely with other product/visual designers, researchers and Customer Experience partners to bring to life an aesthetically cohesive cross-channel identity for a premier in-vehicle purchasing platform for our next generation of vehicles.
Supporting a multi-disciplinary team, the ideal candidate will have strong visual design skills and an inspirational portfolio showcasing extensive experience crafting visually compelling digital products that translate human needs into successful products with a clear passion, understanding, and commitment to user-centered design.
Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with team members to craft extraordinary user experiences across all products and platforms for vehicle features
  • Conduct and attend design implementation reviews, report findings to cross-functional teams and work collaboratively to ensure defect-free product launches
  • Balance user needs, technical constraints, and business objectives to tackle problems optimally
  • Adhere to an established visual design system across all platforms and programs, and contribute to the design systems growth and maturity
  • Create design results to communicate your work including sketches, drawings, prototypes, storyboards, and specifications
  • Extensive knowledge of visual asset delivery for software and technical partners
  • Work with product designers, product owners, key collaborators, and software teams to understand product requirements and find opportunities, implementing them as a detailed part of the overall user experience
  • Act as the voice of design for the team and partners alike
  • Contribute to the continued evolution of the team's workflows and processes to further improve quality and performance
  • Create prototypes for user experience research and testing to validate designs, get user feedback, and find opportunities to improve the customer experience


Additional Description Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience creating digital interfaces for web, mobile, or in-vehicle interfaces
  • Compelling portfolio with work samples showcasing expertise in visual design, user interaction design, and depth of thought
  • Successful track record for bringing digital products to market
  • Open to feedback; knowing how to give and receive critique, and how and when to defend design decisions
  • Strong visual, verbal, and written communication skills, along with presentation and negotiation skills
  • Proficient in common design tools like Sketch, Zeplin, Sympli, Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to create meaningful and lasting relationships with team members and collaborators

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or training in Graphic Design, Web Design, Visual Design. Interaction Design, Product Design, or related, or equivalent work experience
  • Interests aligned with the Automotive and Technology industries
  • E-commerce experience
  • Experience with animation, motion design, transitions and dynamic interactions
  • Experience incorporating research into the design process, including contextual inquiry, usability testing, heuristic evaluation, etc
  • Automotive experience a plus, but not required
  • Solid understanding of technology and the product development lifecycle

  • Proactivity - You automatically tackle for or know when to escalate foreseen problems before they become unmanageable. You speak up without hesitation or fear.
  • A Keen Eye - You're quick to recognize UI patterns and inconsistencies and understand how to connect the dots.
