What You'll Do
You will be responsible for conducting research, evaluating projects, prototyping user interfaces and validating designs through user testing and thinkalouds.
In this role, you will be shaping the look and feel of all new products throughout the development process, from early concepts and wireframes to final high-fidelity designs. You will act as a strategic partner to product owners and key stakeholders to break down complex, ambiguous problems, and concepts into sophisticated solutions regarding technical efforts and product utilization.
In addition, you will encourage, influence, and guide your teammates by serving as a trusted advisor to enhance the team further to meet deliverables and enhance the design process, design system, and other documentation to aid in the firm's long-term scalability evangelizing human-centered design approaches.
You will work collaboratively with coworkers when presenting creative ideas to essential stakeholders, and you will demonstrate excellent communication skills in both asynchronous and synchronous contexts. As a designer, you will also utilize your knowledge and skills in user-centered design to ensure that accessibility remains a top priority when creating a design system across crucial initiatives.
Who You'll Work With
You will be based in one of our offices in North America as part of the Game-based Innovations Lab.
You will work with a team of scientists, game designers, and product specialists to build game-based solutions across areas like cognitive assessment, learning science, data science, and gaming design and technology to develop measurement and assessment products to deliver impact.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years of professional experience gathering insights from customers to inform design and business decisions as a user experience designer, user researcher, or similar role
  • Portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking, creative problem solving, and deliverables (e.g., user flows, wireframes, prototypes, user interface specifications)
  • Strong visual design sensibilities along with drawing and sketching skills
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams translating user needs, grounded in research findings, into product improvements
  • Advanced level of fluency in best practices for visual and interaction design, user-centered design process, as well as strong knowledge of typography, color, motion, and branding with popular graphics creation software (adobe cc/Figma/sketch)
  • Strong written and verbal communication, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work cross-team and synthesize feedback and input from product management, engineering, and operations
  • Proven ability to initiate and lead design discussions, and demonstrated experience in collecting and using feedback
