Conversation Designers at Lark are responsible for designing the patient experience of our AI Coach. They ensure that the coach is conversationally engaging, impactful for our members, and matches the voice of the brand. They translate Lark’s business requirements into natural dialogue flows backed up by UX research and convo design best practices. 

We’re looking for a full-time conversation designer who is excited about conversational experiences and understands how product design works to achieve business objectives. The ideal candidate for this role embraces challenges and inspires new ways of thinking within their work and across teams at Lark. 

What You’ll Do 

• Own every stage of the conversation design process, from research, design mapping, scriptwriting, and Design QA for the Lark Coach
• Document standards, frameworks, and processes for Conversation Design within Confluence & the Design System
• Collaborate with other designers, Product Managers and Conversation Engineers to guide the user experience of an AI product from conception until launch
• Use data and user insights to optimize existing conversational flows
• Being curious and committed to testing new ideas and innovating to drive business results
• Deliver detailed design specs and ideal state prototypes for testing concepts and usability
• Solve customer problems by synthesizing behavioral information and imagining things as they might be, not as they are
• Conceptualize a broad spectrum of ideas and then narrow and validate based on experimentation and user research
• Push and evolve visual frameworks and patterns based on brand guidelines and the Design System
• Innovate and discover the best ways to empower stakeholders to build awesome, engaging automated chat conversational experiences
• Solicit feedback and contribute constructively to design reviews
• Advance a strong point of view, backed up by personal expertise, design rationale, user research data, and industry trends
• Work on multiple projects at one time, using strong communication skills to manage time and expectations appropriately

What You’ll Need 

• Proven background with conversational design and related technologies
• Passion to create delightful design solutions that combine vision with strong creative and tactical planning
• Strong portfolio with work samples showcasing expertise in user experience design, craft, aesthetics, and engaging copywriting
• Experience in working across organizational boundaries to define, manage, and prioritize work
• Experience incorporating research and user data into the design process and roadmaps.
• Ability to apply high-level conversational patterns across product areas.
• Strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated experience using tools such as Figma to design, document, and prototype
• 0-3 years experience designing and writing natural dialog flows for AI, voice assistants, chatbots, or other multimodal/ conversational applications for consumer products and services.
• Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, Linguistics, HCI, Product Design, or related discipline.
