The Web Experience Collective (WXC) Web Platform Team (aka FAST) is seeking a Senior UX Engineer to focus on our Web Components tech stack. They will work closely with other engineers on our team to improve architecture and performance while also implementing exciting new features like Server-Side Rendering based on new web standards.

Candidates must have an innovation mindset and be obsessively collaborative with other engineering teams and design teams. This intense collaboration is the only way to achieve success.

  • Unrelenting focus on web technical excellence, including performance optimization, testing, and developer experience
  • Collaborate fearlessly and transparently on all stages from strategy to launch to refinement.



Responsibilities:
Contribute to the success of other design and engineering teams by helping them leverage FAST's tech stack through providing training, guidance documentation, bug fixes, and optimizations.

  • Help lead our performance benchmarking and optimization efforts for FAST.
  • Help lead core architecture and software design for the FAST open-source project.
  • Contribute to W3C/WHATWG/TC39 efforts that further Web Components and related standards.
  • Design and implement library features based on new W3C/WHATWG/TC39 standards. e.g. SSR for Web Components



Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with TypeScript/HTML/CSS.
  • 3+ years of experience with implementing a front-end framework, core infrastructure/platform for a non-trivial JavaScript application or suite of apps and/or experience with Web Components.
  • 2+ years contributing in a non-trivial way to an open-source project and/or being a major contributor to a developer or designer-focused library or tool.
  • 3+ years Front-end engineering with components.
  • 3+ years working with modern front-end tools (git, npm, yarn, Node.js, Webpack, Rollup, VSCode, etc.)
  • 3+ years unit and end-to-end testing in browser-based and Node.js environments.
  • Experience performance benchmarking and optimizing front-end code.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience configuring CI/CD for front-end library/app build scenarios (GitHub Actions, ADO, or CircleCI). Experience with Docker in this context is a plus.
  • Knowledge of web standards.
  • Experience managing Azure resources and/or working with core Azure tech such as Azure Functions and CosmosDB
  • Public speaking and training
  • Web Standard WG or CG participation experience
  • Experience designing and maintaining ergonomic APIs for others
  • Experience with an additional platform such as C#/Blazor, C++, Rust, or WASM
  • Cross-team collaboration
  • Time management and task prioritization
  • Managing multiple work-streams at once
  • Strong writing skills (whitepapers, specs, decision docs)
  • Strong oral communication skills
