This position sits within our Virtual Learning Business, specifically in Pearson Online Learning Services (POLS), helping to support our various academic partner institutions in Higher Education.

Responsibilities:

As our Senior UI/UX Designer, you will be accountable for enhancing the user experience for our learners across a multitude of products. You will work cross-functionally with marketing, operations, content, and our 3rd party development team to deliver optimized best-in-class visual and user online/digital experiences for our new and existing learners. You will have a direct impact on our learner's user-experience of our products in the following ways:

  • Actively follow a consumer/learner-centric design process from research and strategy through to information architecture and visual design, actively working with development team to ensure that design specifications are implemented.
  • Work closely with our Director, New Product Marketing to effectively and creatively communicate our value propositions, brand stories and innovative products to existing and potential new users.
  • Break down strategic problems and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations related to optimizing product UI/UX
  • Present design concepts at stakeholder review meetings and engage in a friendly critique session to produce effective end designs that meet overall company/product objectives
  • Incorporate data, research and market analysis to inform design recommendations
  • Stay informed of changes and trends in the creative and design community to enhance skillset over time and brings innovative ideas/perspectives
  • Be a meticulous time manager who can balance several open projects and maximize productivity on tight timelines
  • Be highly collaborative in nature, contributing to a positive, team-centric culture and open to giving and receiving thoughtful feedback


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a UI/UX designer, product designer and/or interaction designer at an agency or product company with a digital portfolio of relevant UI/UX design
  • Degree in Graphic Design, UX Design, or Product Design
  • Proven experience as a visual storyteller turning complex business problems into simple and engaging products
  • Ability to explain design rationale concisely and effectively
  • Knowledge of web and mobile app design
  • Proficient in design software such as Figma, Adobe, Sketch and Invision
  • Familiar with capabilities of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AEM)
  • Passionate about staying up-to-date and engaged with industry expertise
  • Experience working in an agile development environment
  • A demonstrated ability to work remotely with minimal supervision (this is a remote-accessible position) under highly dynamic workloads with the ability to be highly effective while managing shifting internal expectations and priorities


Bonus skills (but not necessary):

  • Experience with educational/learning aspects of products / subject matter expertise in the online higher education landscape
  • A passion for content creation such as illustration, copywriting, photography or any other special skills that flex your creative muscles
  • Knowledge and experience in Design Thinking principles


While this position is remote-eligible, it includes the potential of up to 20% travel.

As required by the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Act, Pearson provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado only, the annual range of starting pay for this role is $100,000.00 -$120,000.00 USD.
