About the Role

Why This Role is Unique

As a Design Systems Designer at Esper, you will lead an integral part of our product design, working fluidly and collaboratively with those involved in product, design and engineering. Your primary responsibility will be to create and govern a library of branded components, along with detailed documentation to guide the future of the product design. This role will be well-suited for someone who has a particular interest in using design to help others do their best work, including designers and developers at Esper, Esper customers and our customers’ end users.

What You'll be Doing

  • Creating a scalable product design system for both web-based and mobile experiences
  • Oversee the governance of the design system to ensure it is being followed and implemented correctly across engineering, design and product teams

  • Writing documentation and providing guidance for how and why components, styles, and patterns are applied in code and design
  • Designing high-fidelity flows for rapid prototyping
  • Working closely with Engineering to ensure a high-quality implementation
  • Become a member of our highly valued product design team

What We're Looking For

  • Have 5+ years of industry experience as a User Experience Designer, User Interface Designer, Design System Designer or Product Designer
  • Have established a product design system, including documenting UI styles (typography, color, spacing, object styles, animations), design patterns, components and defining states and interactions
  • Have strong UI/visual design skills, and a high attention to detail—you understand how visual design and interaction design work together to make design clear and functional
  • Communicate clearly and have a high degree of influence with all kinds of internal partners, including senior leadership
  • Have demonstrated experience translating brand attributes and business goals into product functionality and visual design
  • Have experience in an agile environment, collaborating with product managers and development teams who build iteratively

Projects you Could Work on

  • Own the next evolution of the Esper Design System, including design patterns, interactions, components and documentation—a critical assignment to guide product design & engineering
  • Be part of boosting design standards in the technical world of DevOps, raising the visibility of design as an invaluable business tool
  • Account for a wide range of audience needs and conduct usability tests to validate product design decisions
