As the Appcues Senior Product Designer for Appcues Experiences, you will be responsible for enhancing our experience builder that our customers use to improve their product's UX. Your work will also support our vision to empower non-technical customers to build digital product experiences that exceed user's expectations and power business growth.

Appcues is a platform that allows thousands of SaaS companies, such as The Knot, Lyft, and Twilio, to design beautiful in-app experiences that influence their user's behavior without writing any code. As a user-centric company serving thousands of SaaS customers with demanding UX standards, we strive to deliver positive outcomes by identifying real customer problems while balancing business goals.

About the role

  • We are a 100% remote company. We use Figma for wireframes and prototyping, Miro for brainstorming, Slack and Zoom for communication, and our Notion wiki to document our plans and how we work.
  • This position reports to the head of product and engineering, Chris Brookins
  • Our four cross-functional, empowered product teams include product management, design, QA, and engineering.
  • As the Senior Designer, supporting one or two small product teams, you will research, design, and test intuitive user experiences for our powerful Appcues web experience Builder. Learn more and try it, it is free!
  • You will collaborate with product managers and engineers throughout our problem brief, solution discovery, design, and development process to deliver delightful user experiences. On a typical day, you may review problem briefs, conduct customer research, lead brainstorming sessions, craft mocks or prototypes, or synthesize customer feedback in insights from testing.
  • As an advocate for the customer, you will conduct feedback sessions over zoom with customers to uncover pain points, validate ideas, and test solutions.
  • Our product process starts with customer research and a written problem brief. After narrowing the problem down, the project goes into the discovery phase (with the product manager lead, tech lead, and design lead) to find a viable solution that assesses the four big risks. In discovery, we use our design process to research and refine the problem. Then we brainstorm ideas, test them, and ideate to arrive at the final solution.

About you

  • You can work between 9-5 Eastern Time. We are a 100% remote-1st company so you can work from anywhere in North or South America.
  • You have 4-8 years of product design or UX experience and 2 years of experience designing SaaS solutions. Experience designing web-based interactive WYSIWYG tools for designers is a plus, but not required.
  • Your superpowers are interaction design with some experience in UX research. You can translate complex problems into visually stunning user experiences with delightful interactions/animations that include UX/UI best practices.
  • You have worked across all phases of the design process, from discovery to execution, in a collaborative, feedback-rich environment. You advocate for the customer and their needs throughout the design process and practice empathy when trying to understand their pain points.
  • You would prefer to share multiple rough concepts than hold back for the perfect solution. You can effectively communicate your design ideas and the “why” behind your design decisions using wireframes, user flows, site maps, and mocks to illustrate ideas/concepts.
  • You have worked collaboratively with cross-functional partners to define solutions that help solve customer problems and business needs.
  • You are excited to share your work, listen, and consider constructive feedback in an iterative design environment. You respectfully and helpfully do the same for your peers.
  • You are practical and outcome-oriented to impact the user experience over both the short and long term.
  • You can effectively write compelling UX copy so users can easily navigate through an application and achieve their goals.
  • You have the drive to improve anything you touch and enjoy working with others to make things better. You can easily suggest improvements to your past work, and you are always learning how to improve your work.
