What we’re looking for
You’re a versatile designer with experience in product, interaction and visual design, and your ultimate superpower and passion is design systems. You’re excited about the opportunity to take the reigns of M1’s design system and positively impact how designers and engineers design and develop products together with the common goals of being more efficient and providing a more consistent experience for our clients. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment where you can be both strategic and hands-on in your approach to our design system. We're hiring for our headquarters in Chicago, our office in Salt Lake City, and remotely across the US.
What you’ll do
- Create, maintain and evolve an accessible design system for our responsive web and native apps composed of UI elements, components and patterns as well as their supporting specs and usage documentation
- Establish a structure for owners and contributors as a part of the design governance procedures
- Collaborate with your product design peers to apply the design system to the M1 platform and ensure a consistent and holistic end-to-end experience
- Partner with your product engineering peers to implement new elements, components and patterns and ensure they’re scalable and usable
- Help to maintain and improve cross-functional collaboration, relationships, and processes around the design system
- Evangelize the design system across the company, and confidently speak to its value, articulating a clear rationale that led to your solutions and to its impact
Skills/Qualifications
- 7+ years designing exceptional digital products with a portfolio that showcases your focus on user research, UX, UI, design systems, design process, guidelines and documentation
- Successful track record of creating and managing impactful design systems and processes
- Strong communication, facilitation and organizational skills
- You’re a systems thinker who has a solid understanding of UI engineering and the product development process
- Mastery of typography, color, layout, iconography and illustration. Motion design experience a plus
- An expert-level understanding of responsive web design, iOS and Android UI standards, usability and accessibility standards
- Basic knowledge of and interest in investing and personal finance
- Applications without a portfolio will not be considered. Please include one case study that exhibits how you’ve successfully created, maintained and evolved a design system.
