This role reports to the VP of Design as a member of the Design team, the instrumental creative partner in most projects at Duolingo—from our mobile apps and website to the brand voice and email newsletters. At Duolingo, we take pride in and agonize over crafting a user-friendly (and fun) experience for everyone.

You will…

• Expand and detail Duolingo’s product design system across iOS, Android, and web platforms
• Work alongside Engineering to maintain parity between Figma component libraries and production code
• Document, broadcast, and advocate for design system decisions and changes across the Design, Engineering, and Product functions
• Know when to encourage usage of existing patterns and when to expand the system
• Identify and eliminate design inconsistencies
• Champion accessibility and inclusivity at the design system level

You have…

• Worked on design systems at scale, preferably at a consumer tech company
• A robust online portfolio that displays examples of system design, product design (especially mobile), and visual style
• A highly-developed eye for design detail, consistency, and quality
• A talent for bringing order and process to ambiguous or casual workflows
• The ability to relocate to Pittsburgh, PA, New York, NY, or Seattle, WA

Exceptional candidates will have…

• 5+ years of experience working at a high-paced tech start-up
• Experience initiating or evangelizing a new design system at scale
• Interest or experience managing people
• Experience with illustration, animation, motion design, or prototyping
