In collaboration with People & Culture Leadership, IMO is looking for a Senior Instructional Designer to produce performance-focused learning initiatives to support our functional and technical training strategy. You will collaborate and consult with stakeholders across our key business partners to identify knowledge and skill gaps and deliver on the right needs for development opportunities. This role will use their knowledge of innovative learning design and technologies to maximize learning potential by embracing adult learning theory and ADDIE delivery methodologies.
Success in this role requires excelling in an agile corporate environment, thriving on cross-functional collaboration, achieving results with minimal to no supervision, being highly conceptual, and effectively innovating for the future.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business partners as an instructional design expert to design, develop, and implement synchronous and asynchronous onboarding and learning programs, leveraging a variety of approaches and delivery channels.
- Manage internal instructional design project milestones to create curriculums, modules, and content for courses that may include creating instructor-led materials, online/e-learning modules, blended learning, job aids, multimedia products (video, graphic, audio), and other training materials.
- Demonstrated ability to discover, understand, and translate business requirements into actionable items in collaboration with cross-functional partners.
- Package and organize complex technical processes and verbiage into digestible learning interventions.
- Effectively consult and collaborate with employees and leaders across all levels using strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with analytical problem solving and troubleshooting skills that lead to rapid and accurate problem resolution.
- Write, review, edit, and present information (learning content, formal business documents, presentations) ensuring proper use of grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, and brand guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, set appropriate timelines, clarify expectations, and utilize effective processes/approaches to ensure work is delivered with excellence in a timely manner.
- Support the Talent Development team with logistical planning, organizing, and preparing of learning activities and programs (invites, classroom preparation and equipment set-up, presentation decks, survey collection etc.).
- Evaluate training effectiveness and analyze employee data for new opportunities and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience designing and developing learning solutions, including both program- and course-level initiatives.
- Experience successfully deploying function and/or enterprise-wide projects and programs into production in a corporate or start-up environment.
- High-level proficiency in using MS Office suite, SharePoint, & web-based conference services, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Excel and familiarity with online video conference systems such as Zoom.
- Highly professional and diplomatic communication required with all levels of internal and external stakeholders, especially SMEs – including verbal, written, and listening skills.
- Track record of managing projects and staying organized in a dynamic and changing environment, with strong attention to detail.
- Experience working with Data Scientists and/or Software Engineers is a plus.
- Experience working in a tech or start-up environment is preferred.
