Senior Human Factors Researcher (Contract) - Remote at EPAM Systems
EPAM is looking for a Senior Human Factors Researcher to assist client teams through the application of human factors principles, standards, and methodology to identify, mitigate, and improve the end-user experience. In this role, you'll be responsible for understanding the product vision and communicating research findings to engineering and solution owners.
At EPAM, Senior Human Factors Researchers collaborate with team members and clients to solve complex challenges at each stage of development. As part of the team, you will be responsible for every part of the research process.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- In this role, you will have expertise in building research roadmaps, study planning, documenting hypotheses and goals for readout distribution, and executing quantitative and qualitative research studies in terms of efficiency, effectiveness, acceptability, training impact, and error tolerance
- You'll define recruitment criteria for data collection purposes and propose recruiting methods for various participation user groups across worldwide geographic locations
- You're highly skilled in research analysis and result interpretation and well versed in data translation when presenting research findings to project teams, clients, executives, and stakeholders

REQUIREMENTS
- 8+ years of total combined higher education and related work experience, including
- Master's or PhD degree in Human Factors Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Ergonomics, or other related fields
- 6+ years of Human factors research work experience outside of academics, directly related to the duties of the job, including
- Ability to interface with customers in a highly professional manner
- Ability to analyze and synthesize large data sets into usable / easily understandable information
- Strong communication, organizational skills and ability to multi-task effectively
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of management with diplomacy and tact
- Professional training in cognitive psychology / human factors / human computer interaction / human-centered design, including
- Qualitative / Quantitative research
- Application of Human Factors/UX methodologies, such as: RITE method, cognitive walk-through, hierarchical task analysis
- HF/UX evaluative measures for benchmarking and comparative analysis
- Expert reviews, persona development
- Data collection methods: observational study, surveys, questionnaires, interviews
- Study facilitation experience, including
- Remote / In-person usability testing (formative / summative)
- Card sorting / tree testing
- Discovery research (interviews, focus groups, co-design)
- Academic research experience, including
- Publications and /or conference presentations
- Statistical analysis - basic / descriptive
- Strong secondary research skills, including
- Literature review development and summary
- Retrospective data analysis
- Library resources: journals / research repository
- Scientific peer review
- Thesis defense / post-doctoral research preferred
- Knowledge of industry's best practices is expected
- Experience mentoring junior researchers will be preferred
- Consulting experience will be preferred
