Role Summary

Today we sell 3rd party products for radio to go with our 4G Cloud RAN. To expand our product portfolio, we will develop own high-end Massive MIMO radios for sub 6 GHz for our 5G cloud RAN based on Open Interfaces. Focus will be on advanced technology and product development together with customers. We will progress this as a start-up company in Mavenir and leverage the whole organization. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implementation and performance optimization of massive MIMO beamforming functionality on high-end FPGAs for 5G mMIMO radio
  • Responsible for micro-architecture design, optimization and testing of uplink and downlink beamforming building blocks as per the ORAN 7.2 CAT-B fronthaul specifications.
  • Responsible for development of unit-test framework to validate the beamformer performance
  • Responsible for requirements gathering from the DU (distributed unit) and CU (centralized unit) teams, and end-to-end beamfomer performance testing by taking into account the DU-PHY, fronthaul, the channel emulator and test/commercial UEs
  • Lead designer of fixed precision implementation and validation
  • Responsible for writing VHDL/Verilog and using tools to emulate system test conditions for beamformer functionality on ORAN split solutions
  • Develop embedded FPGA solutions on next generation FPGAs from Xilinx and Altera
  • HW board bring-up in the lab for new products and design
  • Deep knowledge on performing validation of functionality with MATLAB/python/C/C++ based environment
  • Owner and creator of beamformer processing requirements documentation, including micro-architecture design documents, test specifications, test reports and user guides
  • Participates into system feature specifications creation from the radio development team
  • Perform technical evaluations of major system enhancements and major new customer requirements
  • Create detailed system level functional requirements and specifications
  • Monitor standards body activities to and participate (if necessary) to influence the industry with innovative vision of the company
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and market disruption.
  • Provide active support and guidance for program management
  • Provide support for PLM and pre-sales in RFI/RFQ cases
  • Provide system level technical support in customer meetings
  • Work closely with engineering and QA teams to drive the timely and quality release of new products and features



Job Requirements

  • Must to have a good understanding of space-time-frequency adaptive signal processing as applied to, and applicable to, multi-antenna base-station infrastructure systems
  • Deep knowledge of digital signal processing techniques such as filter designs, time-frequency transforms, and data converters as applied to, and applicable to, 4G and 5G wireless wireless systems
  • Proven track record from 4G LTE or 5G NR radio DFE and/or beamformer FPGA design and development
  • Hands-on experience designing signal processing solutions in VHDL/Verilog optimizing for high throughput with low power consumption
  • Experience with gate-level understanding and implementation of RTL and synthesis (i.e. to correlate RTL simulation to real FPGA implementation)
  • Experience with model-based signal processing flows such as MATLAB, Simulink, HDL Coder and integration with third-party FPGAs such as Xilinx and Altera
  • Hands-on experience with HDL simulators
  • In depth understanding on ORAN functional splits, signal/data flow procedures, beamforming algorithms, carrier creation and routing in mMIMO, uplink and downlink data channel and random access channel filtering implementation in FPGA design
  • Prior experience in implementation of digital predistortion algorithms for power amplifier linearization
  • Ability to translate a software model into fixed point hardware implementation using model-based design tools
  • Excellent inter-personal and leadership skills.

  • Excellent presentation skills for a variety of audiences including executives, partners, and customers.
  • Ability to quickly grasp and adapt to new technologies and concepts.
  • Qualification: BS, MS or PhD
  • At least 10+ years' experience in telecommunication industry in design and systems engineering roles
