The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear & Maintenance Components, e.g., Steel Products (Undercarriage and GET) and Specialty Products (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).

As Senior Design Engineer, you will have the responsibility to manage the global strategy for design and application of Caterpillar machine linkage systems. This role will enable the development of key leadership skills to build strong and strategic relationships with both machine business unit process partners and strategic suppliers. You will partner with and provide technical guidance to global teams while strengthening your analytical skills and mastery of engineering concepts. This role will contribute to the planning and delivery of projects associated with NPI, CPI, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Enterprise Strategic Initiatives. Finally, this role will allow incumbents to stay abreast of innovative technology, mentor and coach team members and broaden your professional network.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Cartridge Pin Assemblies design control owner
Linkage Pin Assemblies design control owner
J1.3 design standard for linkage pins
Pin supplier & procurement collaboration
Pin Joint parts list & design reuse & quality
Interface with Machine Business teams to support and assist in the design of linkage pins to support NPI, CPI and cost reduction activities.
Research and develop new coding and heat treat processes
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field
5+ years of structure design experience
Experience with stress/strain, load analysis, prints, tolerancing and materials
Knowledge of manufacturing practices for precision machined and heat-treated components
Experience utilizing analytical software/programs to analyze data
Top Candidates will also have:
Experience with Welding and Material Coating processes
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with internal partners
The ability to work/lead multiple projects simultaneously and to make sound priority decisions
Strong project management skills – Developing, maintaining, and executing to a project management plan
Experience with TeamCenter
Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills
