We need Executive Design leadership that can support and sustain enduring Design Studios that will work as partners to our business and product development teams across all channels. We need talented Design leaders to ensure that we are best serving our membership in the spaces that matter the most. Remote is OK but preferred geography is Minneapolis - Travel required up to 5 weeks per year for somone who doesn't reside in Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Primary Responsibilities:
As a people leader you will:
  • Lead a team of UX professionals, where the team could include Information Architects, Designers, and UX Researchers
  • Provide oversight and leadership to a team (may include employees, contract personnel and/or vendor partners and their resources)
  • Effectively manage teamwork load and ensure knowledge sharing and cross-training of team members to effectively support the business and execute on team/function deliverables
  • Develop and maintain a high-performing team through effective hiring, coaching and performance management
  • Manage the resource workload, ensuring capacity to project work ratios are in balance
  • Manage several Design Studios as needed
  • Onboard business partners into Design best practices and ensure executive sponsorships

As a strategist you will:
  • Work at the intersection of business strategy and experience design to champion holistic experiences.
  • Partner with senior leaders, engineering and product teams to ensure successful and high quality experiences.
  • Lead design strategy discussions at the highest levels of the enterprise
  • Support critical communications and decision related to the Design organization
  • Influence and partner cross-functional partners, including product, engineering, strategy, data and analytics to achieve outcomes
  • Facilitate design thinking moments for sponsors and product partners
  • Understand and partner across Omnichannel teams to ensure communication and experience consistency
  • Bring a bias to the teams for Enterprise solutions that support common experience needs

Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in design or related field
  • Demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including the ability to clearly articulate and educate on UX best practices, industry standards, best practices and emerging trends
  • Experience with people leadership, including hiring, leading and coaching direct reports
  • Proven highly motivated and influential leader with ability to take initiative, set priorities and perform tasks with minimal guidance
  • Expert in managing priorities, strategies, relationships
  • Proven ability to interpret product requirements documents from a user-centered perspective
  • Experience with a variety of UX research methodologies and their appropriate application
  • Experience with creating and presenting compelling presentations to clearly convey complex concepts
  • Broad knowledge of UX research, Information Architecture, design, and interaction design with deep knowledge in at least one area
  • Demonstrated executive level presentation skills, ability to speak organization wide on Design and Design impact
  • Broad knowledge of Design disciplines
  • Experience managing or supporting organizational finances
  • Up to 5 weeks per year of travel required for one who doesn't reside in Minneapolis/St Paul
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in a related field
  • Experience leveraging enterprise Design Systems
  • Healthcare domain experience

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado/Connecticut/Nevada residents is $134,200 to $257,700. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
