WSP USA's Power & Energy group has a need for a Senior Designer with experience in the design of large scale energy and power systems including wind, solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), combined heat and power, microgrid systems, C&I scale solar PV systems, electric vehicle infrastructure, hydrogen,and waste-to-energy. The candidate will work under direct supervision of senior engineers and project managers and will perform a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard civil and electrical design techniques for large and small scale energy projects. Core activities may include CAD design, preparation of equipment specifications, preparation of calculations and modeling, equipment selection and evaluation, and optimization.

Your Impact

  • Develop construction design documents for civil and electrical designs on wind, solar, energy storage and other clean energy projects Develop drawings in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Infraworks, Revit, Navis Works, and other software as needed.
  • Develop single line diagrams, general arrangement, grading plans, SWPPP, plan and profile view documents with limited input from Engineers.
  • Manage CAD drawings using Project Wise and SharePoint solutions.
  • Manage incoming survey data and constraints mapping for accurate development of layouts.
  • Provide QA/QC on work performed by other drafters and designers utilizing Bluebeam.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Associates Degree
  • Minimum of 10 years experience at engineering firms performing similar functions
  • Expert user of AutoDesk and AutoCAD products
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products including excel, word, outlook
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.


Preferred Qualification

  • AutoCAD certified professional
  • Bachelors degree in engineering or similar technical field
  • Prior experience with solar and wind energy design projects
