Overview

As a Content Design Director on our Brand Studio team, you'll contribute to our mission by shaping the future of our Content Design practice. Reporting directly to our VP of Design, you’ll manage a team of Content Designers whose work spans marketing, brand, and product touch points.

In this role you’ll partner closely with product managers, UX research, designers, marketing leaders, and other disciplines to ensure that our content is consistent across the end-to-end customer experience. Your portfolio of work will demonstrate your ability to guide UX content strategy as well as the ability to develop content strategies for marketing campaigns. 

The ideal candidate will have strong fundamentals in people management; org building; content design, systems, and user experience; experience elevating content quality and efficacy with data, and a passion for mental health care. 

What You’ll Do: 

As Content Design Director, you'll serve as a creative leader within the Design team.

Content Design Strategy & Leadership

  • Maintain and evolve voice and tone guidelines and help evangelize the content design practice across the company
  • Serve as an operational partner to Design Directors and senior leaders in Product and Marketing – ensuring that content designers are focused on the right business and customer priorities. 
  • Responsible for building out a content design process including, scoping, roadmapping, collaboration processes, etc.
  • Develop trust and strategic partnership with other leaders in Clinical Program Development, Product, Marketing, and others to ensure a unified content strategy across the company and demonstrate the value of content design 
  • Lead strategic work as needed — for example, collaborating with marketing on developing our Brand Strategy or partnering with Design Systems to develop frameworks for orchestrating content across products
  • Guide the execution of content deliverables across product and marketing. Examples include, editorial content, product microcopy, emails, marketing campaign content, etc.
  • Apply your expertise in storytelling and persuasion to build materials that connect vision, strategy, and action plans at the organization level
  • Communicate clearly and effectively across all organizational levels
  • Work across teams to drive consensus and advocate for solutions that balance the needs of our users with our business goals

People & Team Management

  • Set the standard for content design and UX content strategy in ways that inspire and uplift others within a team
  • Guide the team to develop and adapt human-centered processes that facilitate high-quality design work
  • Develop processes that efficiently and effectively guide marketing campaign development from creative briefs to final execution
  • Contribute to our culture of constructive design critique, enabling team members to realize their potential
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain top talent. Identify gaps and solutions for future growth and scale within the team or org
  • Manage contractors and external agency relationships and guide the production of content development as well as audio and video production
  • Mentor the team on building trusting, candid relationships with close collaborators to enable productive working relationships
  • Responsible for the quality of the team, including coaching, growing IC's and coaching under-performing team members

Who You Are:  

  • 10+ years of experience in content design or a related area
  • 5+ years of experience as a senior leader in content design and/or managing a team
  • Proven expertise in areas such as Content Mapping and Modeling, Information Architecture, UX Writing, Storytelling, marketing campaigns, brand strategy,  and cross-channel content development
  • Deep understanding of human-centered design practices, and a point of view about content's role in the design process
  • Passionate about mental health
