Job Details

Slack is hiring a Senior Brand Designer to help us tell the world about Slack through thoughtfully crafted content and engaging experiences. You'll be joining a dynamic group of designers, illustrators, animators, producers, and writers on our Creative team to build awareness of the Slack brand and product benefits.

Designers serve a vital role here - from leading projects into uncharted creative territories, to designing the look and feel of multiple customer-facing touchpoints, including large flagship events and in the Slack product. We are looking for a designer who understands the needs of different audiences, takes risks with intention, and leans on experience and data to generate new solutions.

You will partner with other designers, writers and producers to design for a wide range of projects while driving consistency of the Slack brand. The ideal candidate is a strong visual storyteller who will bring definition to the product narrative through partnerships, events, and production vendors.

Slack is a positive, diverse, and supportive culture-if this sounds like a good fit for you, send us a nice hello, and links to your work and experience.

What you'll do

  • Work closely with the Creative team to scale and amplify the Slack brand expression across multiple channels
  • Collaborate with marketing, product design, and executive teams to concept, execute, and direct end-to-end product and feature launches
  • Partner with Marketing to tell the story of Slack in simple, delightful ways
  • Oversee external partners through creative strategy, execution, and production of our brand experience and narrative for flagship events
  • Actively explore opportunities to connect and scale the brand through product design team by partnering with them to build upon guidelines for color, illustration, and motion
  • Mentor other team members and participate in team crits, brainstorms, and external awareness efforts
  • Confidently prioritize, manage and multitask between different projects and deadlines
  • Use brand strategy and performance data to inform creative solutions and articulate design rationale

What you should have

  • 8+ years of design experience, ideally with exposure to technical companies and/or working in-house
  • An eye for presentation design and strong storytelling skills
  • Systems thinking with an in-depth understanding of templates, layout, color, typography, and user behavior
  • Experience following and building on existing brand systems and guidelines, in the context of both marketing and product
  • Strong art direction and communication skills to effectively guide internal and external partners
  • Strong desire to collaborate with diverse teams in a dynamic, rapid growth environment
  • Ability to brainstorm and see an idea through from concept to launch
  • Positive attitude with a curious open mind that values collaboration and feedback
  • Proficient using creative tools such a Adobe CC and Figma
  • Animation/prototyping skills would be a big plus
  • Familiarity with Slack would be a bonus
