Pearson is looking for a dynamic Senior Accessible User Experience designer to lead efforts to design accessible, engaging experiences within our world class assessment products. You will solve complex design problems by building adaptive, creative, and accessible solutions that are optimized for usability and founded in exceptional visual design.

The successful candidate has a passion for building creative solutions to UI/UX design problems by staying up to date with best practices and emerging trends in accessible user experience design and user interface technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with UX researchers, product managers, engineers, and more to build accessible, usable, forward-looking products that delight users of all ages
  • Define user journeys, interactions, and UI specifications in close collaboration with product managers and the engineering team
  • Develop personas and usage scenarios
  • Participate in user research and usability testing, evaluate user feedback, and implement changes based on this feedback
  • Produce high-quality UX design solutions through wireframes, visual and graphic designs, flow diagrams, storyboards, site maps, and prototypes
  • Develop and conceptualize a comprehensive UI/UX design strategy for each product that aligns with the Pearson brand
  • Design accessible UI elements and tools and provide a library of these elements to share with other UX design teams


As required by theColorado Equal Pay Transparency Act, Pearson provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado only , the range of starting pay for this role is $125,000 - $135,000. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program, and information on benefits offered is here.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in a design-related field and a minimum of 5 years UI/UX design experience for digital products or services

Experience

  • A portfolio of professional UI/UX design work for both web and mobile platforms, with a preference for samples that are accessible.
  • Knowledge of industry tools like Zeplin, Figma, OmniGraffle, Illustrator and Sketch
  • Experience working in an Agile development process
  • Awareness of current design trends

  • Special Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to work productively with diverse teams
  • Thorough understanding of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA)
  • Functional knowledge of the user experience needs of people with disabilities
  • Ability to initiate and manage the acquisition of new skills as needed to meet job requirements
  • Multi-tasking and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Mastery of information design and the ability to simplify complex information systems
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to present wireframes and design solutions to various stakeholders
  • Experience with digital educational content (desirable)
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
