  • Provide feedback and join efforts to continually improve our design processes.
  • Interview new designers and actively advise on our design hiring process.
  • Lead by example-do phenomenal work and help people on the team learn how you do it through mentorship and coaching.

An Insider's view of Almanac

What’s the vibe like in the office?

The Almanac team is impressively distributed, so our "office" is a frame of mind — and yet, I've felt way more connected to my far-flung team members than I have with past colleagues in offices IRL. An intentional and very human company culture goes a long way.

Darryn King

Editor

What does your typical day look like?

As an engineer a few hours behind my remote European colleagues, I spend mornings addressing feedback on my work that has been *magically* completed since the prior evening (one of the great benefits of a distributed team!). A few hours later, I might spend time aligning with my teammates via pairing or stand up. I spend afternoons in deep work.

Jasmine Feldmann

Software Engineer

What are some things you learned at the company?

Almanac challenges me daily - I'm certainly someone who loves to stick to a plan, but when you work at a high growth start-up, you need to be flexible. I've learned how to re-adjust and to not fear switching gears! I can now approach a situation from many different perspectives and this has made me into a much stronger thinker.

Tess Brown

Community Manager

What is your vision for the company?

Despite technological advances, we waste time managing mundane tasks and coordinating work, rather than spending time problem-solving. That’s why Almanac is building collaborative infrastructure. We're unlocking the world’s talent to effectively work with transparency and power — so that humans can spend time doing what only humans can.

Adam Nathan

Cofounder & CEO

What projects are you most excited about?

We're constantly rethinking how to work, and then sharing our findings with the world. From removing all meetings to silencing Slack for days, it's exciting to write the narrative on distributed work!

Matt Heytens

Operations Lead

What are Almanac Perks + Benefits

Almanac Benefits Overview

At Almanac, our benefits are designed around how we want our team members to feel: safe, supported, connected, seen. Our benefits represent our hypothesis around how we can enable our team to live happy, productive, meaningful lives, at work and in their lives beyond it. Three unique benefits we offer here at Almanac are:

🎖️ Retreats and coworking weeks - We believe that in person experiences help to foster deep relationships, so we gather a few times each year to work alongside each other as we get to know each other, sprint on projects, or plan for the future. Once every quarter, we hold a coworking week in a beautiful place across the world (like Italy, Greece, or Berlin). Once per year, we hold a specific retreat for each team in a fun, convenient location (like Austin or NYC). And on a one-off basis, we gather certain teams for in-person team project sprints. During these times together, we work during the day, have fun at night, and enjoy the company of our peers.

🎖️ Executive coaching for all - At Almanac, every team member has access to CEO-level coaches. We strive to give you the resources you need to advance, mature, and succeed in alignment with your goals, and executive coaching is one of the ways we help you stay on track. Depending on your management level, you'll be eligible to meet with your coach between six to eighteen times per year (in one hour sessions).

🎖️ Async days - We observe two async days per week, where we cancel all meetings and stay off Slack. By removing interruptions and distractions, we allow you to enter states of deep flow with enhanced focus and productivity.
