Do you want to empower organizations to fairly and equitably hire, promote, retain and compensate their employees? Syndio is a Series-C technology company committed to fairness in the workplace. Fueled by investments of $83M from Bessemer Ventures, Voyager Capital and social change organization Emerson Collective, Syndio is investing in growing our team and products.

This is a critical moment when organizations are looking for ways to take tangible action to fight gender and racial bias, and we believe creating diverse and inclusive workplaces for all starts with fair pay.

About the Role

Syndio’s software is front and center in defining new ways to establish and ensure workplace fairness. As a Product Designer, you will join a growing product and engineering team to shape and take ownership of our design system and lead the way in establishing a beautiful, intuitive, and accessible design language. You’ll contribute to the look, feel, and interaction of our flagship SaaS product, Syndio PayEQ, as well as other products.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design systems and patterns that allow product designers and front-end engineers to focus on product-level problems and ship high-quality work efficiently and consistently.
  • Consider accessibility up front in the creative design process and always advocate for inclusive experiences.
  • Provide pixel-perfect static and interactive mockups.
  • Create documentation and guidance on how and why components, styles, and patterns are applied in code and design.
  • Collaborate with product designers and front-end engineers to develop and ship the system.
  • Be an ambassador for design. Articulate design decisions to product design, brand design, engineering and product.

About You

  • You have 3+ years of related experience contributing to and expanding visual style guides, component libraries, and design systems for software products.
  • You have experience unifying and maintaining a UI and UX design across multiple teams with differing goals and priorities—including developing, maintaining, documenting, and gaining adoption of pattern libraries.
  • You are proficient with design tools, such as InVision, Sketch, and Figma.
  • You have experience with data visualization design and charting libraries.
  • You have experience designing for (or strong interest in) accessibility and are familiar with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards.
  • You can share a portfolio of strong interaction design, design systems, and product design work.
  • You care about setting up the team up for success—helping shape the design system to help other designers do their best work is a large part of this job.
  • You think strategically and understand how small changes to the design system will impact the entire product.
  • You are collaborative, have strong communication skills, and can work hand in hand with a product designer to make new features shine.
  • You are a scrappy self-starter who thrives working autonomously and who actively solicits feedback from the team throughout the design cycle.
  • You are comfortable working at a fast pace in an agile environment, where the feedback cycle is in hours, not weeks.
  • You align with our company’s core values of candor, humility, adaptability, curiosity and trust.

Impact

  • Within 1 month, you will be familiar with the product, as well as our current design system and component library. You’ll get to know key members of the team and build the foundations for strong relationships. You’ll understand our users’ needs and behaviors.
  • Within 3 months, you’ll collaborate closely with the product design team and engineers to ship some small improvements while working toward the creation of a holistic design language in collaboration with our brand designer.
  • Within 6-12 months, you’ll be shipping components and enhancements to the design system and overseeing their implementation into the product. You’ll serve as a key player on the team, helping to drive the look and feel of new products forward. You’ll be contributing to the design discipline and proposing ways to improve processes and tools.
