Principal User Experience (UX) Designer
About the job
The Red Hat User Experience (UX) Design team is looking for a Senior User Experience Designer to help us deliver a best-in-class UX for our expanding portfolio of managed cloud services. In this role, you will focus on service optimization which looks to build processes to support the continual improvement of our cloud services through the blending of telemetry data, user research, and UX design principles. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of designers, business analysts, UX researchers, and product managers to identify possible user friction areas and design solutions to alleviate them. You should be an experienced interaction designer with a record of utilizing both quantitative and qualitative data to identify areas of possible user friction and creating design solutions to alleviate those potential problem areas. You will work closely with both business analysts and UX researchers. As a Senior User Experience Designer, you should like to collaborate across teams and feel comfortable explaining your ideas and process to other people. You will know when and how to use data to inform design decisions and have a comfort level with analytical tools such as Pendo. You should have the ability to quickly adapt to changing situations, needs, or requirements. You should enjoy mentoring other members of the team by sharing effective processes, tools, methods, and ways of problem solving. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do
- Consider an end-to-end UX that spans multi-product onboarding, usage, and support
- Build solid relationships with project stakeholders that help them inspire project deliverables
- Identify common pitfalls in the user-oriented design process and steer teams through the process in an effective manner
- Perform or participate in planning user research to inform or validate design decisions
- Understand and communicate the information architecture, workflows, and processes surrounding the user experience
- Create mockups and wireframes and build relationships with developers to support successful development
- Identify usability issues and make solid recommendations for improvement
- Make time for fellow designers to provide feedback, coaching, and mentorship
What you will bring
- Bachelor's degree or higher in interaction design, visual design, human computer interaction, human factors, computer science, or a closely related area
- 8+ years of experience designing UX for applications
- Ability to adjust your leadership style to a variety of situations; inspire, encourage, and challenge others
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and unexpected obstacles and to modify work methods in response to new information to accomplish organizational goals
- Experience with agile development; experience with open source projects is a plus
