Summary:
Nuance Healthcare User Experience team is looking for a Principal User Experience Designer to join our growing team. On a day-to-day basis, you'll collaborate with a highly-skilled group of individuals that utilize the latest in voice-driven technology to deliver the future of healthcare user experiences.
The Principal UX Designer reports to a UX manager, and leads UX Design processes in collaboration with their Product Management and Development counterparts. The Principal Designer will the drive definition of business and user requirements, then lead iterative design and test cycles to deliver highly-valued Nuance Healthcare applications. Product-specific user research initiatives will be conducted in collaboration with Product Management colleagues.
Responsibilities:

  • Define and lead up-front user research activities including business analysis, task analysis and user interviews to inform the development of new products
  • Execute UX design inputs that guide product development, including JTBD frameworks, service blueprints and user journey maps, user profiles (personas), workflow diagrams, information architecture schemas, wireframes and finished UI designs
  • Deliver design documentation and artifacts in support of technical development, including graphical UI guidelines and corresponding graphical assets, functional specification documentation
  • Facilitate iterative user feedback programs to drive incremental improvements in existing products
  • Maintain clear priorities and work efficiently within a fluid, fast-paced product development ecosystem
  • Regularly communicate upward and outward on program progress


Required Skills:

  • 8+ years of experience performing research and design for complex B2B workflow applications..
  • Healthcare experience preferred
  • Experience planning and leading an agile product design process within all phases of the product development lifecycle, and synthesizing actionable insights that inform product development
  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to be effective in front of audiences ranging from the C-Suite to offshore development teams
  • Proficient in current UI design and development tools including Sketch, Miro, Abstract, Figma, Adobe suite
  • Working knowledge of web application development: mobile first and responsive UI design, HTML, CSS and Javascript frameworks
  • Functional prototype creation for user testing and feedback
  • Use of the Atlassian suite for project communication and collaboration (JIRA and Confluence)
  • Delivery within Agile / Scrum development timeframes
  • Adherence to HIPAA compliance and securing patient health information


Education: BS or higher in User Experience Design, Interaction Design, HCI, or a UX design-related field or equivalent experience.
