At Salesloft, our User Experience Research Directors are pivotal to our company’s success.  You will be a key member of our fast-growing and high-performing Product Experience team and you will build and lead a team of talented researchers and product analysts to inform our future, best-in-class, user experiences. You are a passionate leader across all phases of the UCD process.  The ideal candidate is inquisitive, pushes methodological boundaries, is a user evangelist, has an eye for the details, and ensures we build world-class experiences based on a deep understanding of how our users work, what they need, and which product designs bring them the greatest delight while they work.  

On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for leading and empowering a team of researchers and product analysts to create and deliver product and user research that will inform innovative end-to-end user experiences that meet the needs of our customer’s business goals, make our users work lives easier, and embodies Salesloft’s future vision.  Specifically, you will:

  • Guide the strategy, execution, and delivery of impactful research that informs decisions across the product lifecycle.
  • Ensure we’re data driven leveraging and driving the analytics generated to understand how our products are used by our customers.
  • Work cross-functionally with key stakeholders and partners to identify and prioritize research and telemetry opportunities that will meet both tactical and strategic product goals. 
  • Coach and mentor researchers and analysts on the design and execution of qualitative and mixed methods studies that result in high quality, informative deliverables.  Storytelling is a plus! 
  • Be seen as a thought-leader and research expert, staying up-to-date on industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs.

We are seeking a passionate research leader who will create a research culture and define a vision where our talented team of researchers and product analysts will have a deep understanding of Salesloft’s users and ensure that our products and services produce an exceptional experience for our customers and users.

THE TEAM:

Our Salesloft’s User Experience Research team is comprised of up-and-coming researchers who are all aligned on one vision and mission:

The User Experience Research team consists of curious, creative, and results-oriented professionals with a strong problem-solving mentality and a desire to serve our customers.  The Lofters on our team share a few common traits: they are self-motivated, inquisitive, and passionate about making sure everyone puts our customers first and that every member of the Salesloft team has a deep understanding of our user base.

THE SKILL SET:

  • Promote a future forward and UCD culture based on insights gleaned from research and data analytics.
  • Support qualitative and quantitative research throughout the product life-cycle from early stage generative research, to iterative concept or prototype testing, and through to post-launch measurements.
  • Create a data first, metric driven culture where comprehensive analyses, KPI metrics, and product adoption and usage inform designers, product managers, and executives in their day to day decisions.
  • Find creative and compelling ways to share and evangelize research and customer insights across the company.
  • Have a proven track record of growing, mentoring and retaining high-performing researchers from different disciplines. 
  • Advocate passionately for the customer so that the product experience is aligned to user needs and expectations.
  • Deliver actionable and relevant insights aligned to both strategic and tactical product and design decisions. 
  • Build and influence meaningful cross-functional relationships with product, design, and engineering teams.
  • Excellent written, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Manage our research tool portfolio.
  • 3 or more years of experience with consumer or enterprise applications.
  • 5 years of hands-on experience as a UX researcher in a product development context.
  • 2+ years of experience managing and developing a UX Research team.


WITHIN ONE MONTH, YOU’LL:

  • Attend Salesloft’s New Hire Orientation, where you will learn our Salesloft story and understand what makes our “Lofters” unique 
  • Attend an Product Department orientation
  • Begin 1:1's with your manager, understand your 30-60-90 plan
  • Begin 1:1's with your team members and understand their career goals
  • Meet key players in departments that work directly with the research team
  • Have an introduction to Salesloft’s hiring strategy and pair with your manager through the hiring process of researchers
  • Start attending research team, product experience org,  and leadership meetings


WITHIN THREE MONTHS, YOU’LL:

  • Set your OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) with your manager and develop an action plan to achieve them
  • Work with Product and Product Experience Leadership to Identify metrics to measure the research team against and report on them weekly
  • Be able to help your direct reports start to achieve their career plans, providing input and guidance
  • Operate independently on hiring research employees and facilitate fair and equitable candidate reviews - including offline exercises and interview questions
  • Represent the research, analytic and product experience team and find your voice among the greater Product and Engineering team
  • Feel comfortable with Saleloft’s product and the strategic direction we are heading. 
  • Consistently achieve your goals 

WITHIN SIX MONTHS, YOU’LL:

  • Be contributing at 100%, acting as a voice for Research, Analytics,  and User Experience to the company - monitoring questions and discussions in slack channels, contributing to the conversation
  • Have developed relationships with the Product Management and Development teams to help them achieve their goals 
  • Provide suggestions for UCD, Research, and Product Analytic process improvements 
  • Work closely with researchers to ensure top quality research and deliverables are being delivered in a timely manner
  • Provide and monitor backlog of product, design, and research projects
  • Introduce community outreach or other recruiting ideas to get us the best candidates for research roles
  • Continue to focus on your OKRs
