About the role

We're looking for a Lead Product Designer to join our Restaurants team at SpotOn. Using design creativity and user-centered design principles, you will work with cross-functional teams that empower restaurant’s owners to deliver great customer experiences.

About the team

You'll be a core member of the SpotOn design team and will specifically be supporting the Restaurant side of SpotOn's product offerings. We're a location-distributed team across the US, Mexico, and Poland, and include product managers, project managers, front-end web, iOS, and Android developers, as well as back-end developers. You'll report to a design lead on the team.

The current Product Design Team is formed by 18 people between UX copywriters, illustrators, video creators, and product designers.

 

Responsibilities

  • Use quantitative and qualitative research/data where necessary to inform your design decisions and approach
  • Contribute to the strategy and planning phases of new projects and products
  • Partner with product, data analytics, user research, QA, and engineering to identify requirements, use cases, and user journeys for restaurant products. 
  • Illustrate and communicate complex design solutions across use cases by creating process flows, wireframes, motion studies, prototypes, and high fidelity mock-ups.
  • Develop and maintain detailed design documentation & specifications for your work.
  • Use a variety of metrics to evaluate and continuously improve the user experience.
  • Regularly present your work to senior leaders for review and feedback.

 

What you’ll need

  • 5+ years of experience as a senior product designer with demonstrable proficiency owning the design process from early-stage ideation through high fidelity design to product ship (consumer-facing and internal products). 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills that allow you to communicate and advocate for complex design ideas clearly and persuasively, influencing peers and leaders.
  • Strong visual design and prototyping skills.
  • Experience collaborating with multi-functional teams including product, engineering, and end user groups.
  • Expert communicator who can encourage and sell a vision.
  • Self-starter who wants to make SpotOn's applications visually appealing and easy to use.
  • A passion for small businesses.
  • We are looking for someone who has designed a legacy rewrite.
  • Experience participating in and conducting usability and qualitative studies.
  • Experience designing for iOS, Android, and Web along with a basic working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and native mobile technologies, including kiosks or handheld devices.
  • Experience with Figma / XD and prototyping tools.
