As an Layout Designer in the DEG Layout Design group, you will create innovative layout to support Commodity, Mobile and Emerging R&D Design, Process and Product Engineering customers. You will be responsible for planning, building and routing using industry and internal automation tools. You will be expected to demonstrate your understanding of CMOS device physics and electrical characteristics through innovative designs.
You will be expected to plan and document your layout, presenting material for global teams to review. You will work directly with the Process and CAD teams to create innovative layout, verify the layout working with Advanced Mask Development and OPC teams to simulate what you draw. This feedback will be taken directly all through the design cycle leading to layout changes and design rule changes. Best methods will be developed and documented on brand-new innovative designs.
You will have an opportunity to work on mask generation and reticle design.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Plan and document the layout with Design customers
  • Plan and layout the design to Design and Process customer specification
  • Verify quality of layout through DRC, LVS, and other vendor-supplied and in-house verification tools
  • You will interpret and apply Design Rules and confirm they are checking as intended, applying your knowledge of CMOS process, working with Process customers
  • Develop and Document layout tools and methodologies to improve quality, working with CAD or through your own coding
  • Identify issues, and provide solutions through communication and innovation
  • Lead sections of the layout design, planning and coordinating work with local and global teams, verifying quality for our Design and Process customers
  • Candidates with people leadership experience or interest can be considered for a supervisory posiion


Useful Qualifications include, but not limited to:

  • A BS in Electrical Engineering
  • Understanding of CMOS process
  • Knowledge and use of Linux operating system
  • Ability to code in a scripting language is very desirable
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools
  • Layout skills using Cadence Virtuoso and Cadence Virtuoso XL
  • Experience with Calibre layout verification tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to tackle problems
  • Self-motivated with strong analytical skills and ability to think creatively


Experience and Education:
BSEE or Equivalent Experience
