Instructional Designer
Cisco Meraki is seeking a passionate and creative Instructional Designer to help build Meraki’s instructor-led and e-learning technical training curriculum and to drive learner-centric processes for our training solutions worldwide.
The Product Enablement team is responsible for crafting extraordinary enablement experiences for Meraki audiences globally. We do this by developing, delivering, and enabling scalable programs and solutions that make Cisco Meraki technologies more accessible to everyone.
In this position, you will be responsible for advocating for our learners throughout the design and development process. This includes assessing and analyzing training needs, defining training audiences / objectives / outcomes, crafting learning solutions and developing courses using a variety of formats and technologies.
You will drive impact in this role by promoting the understanding of instructional design methodologies, effectively partnering with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and project managers to develop learning solutions, and producing high quality, engaging and effective learning experiences for our target audiences.
An ideal candidate takes a collaborative approach in everything they do, has a strong eye for clean design, centers the learner in their instructional design, and has a growth mentality by continuously seeking opportunities to learn and improve.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with Strategy Leads and SMEs to assess training requests as well as define learning goals and objectives, complete a task analysis, and build a course organization map
- Identify learning activities, assessment tools, and net-new content needed, in order to craft a storyboard for review ahead of development
- Use various learning development tools to build engaging learning experiences in-line with design plan
- Advocate for the learner and effective achievement of learning objectives throughout the instructional design process
- Mentor and guide content developers as key contributors to the process
- Complete reviews of portfolio development projects from an instructional design perspective, giving feedback to content creators as needed to ensure high quality results that meet audience needs
- Assist with the evolution of development processes for the department by applying instructional design theory and standard methodologies
- Partner with Strategy Leads to assess ongoing efficiency of training in driving confidence and adoption of Cisco Meraki solutions
- Actively engage in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of learning theories, pedagogies, and technological developments that can level-up capabilities on the team
- Lead and assist in other activities related to training content design, development, management, and execution
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in instructional design
- Is a specialist in adult learning theories and methodologies (Bloom’s Taxonomy, Gagne, Kirkpatrick’s Levels of Evaluations) and learning development processes (ADDIE)
- Shown expertise with Learning Content Management Systems (e.g. Xyleme, Absorb), design tools (E.g. Adobe InDesign and Illustrator) and eLearning tools (E.g. Articulate 360, Techsmith Camtasia, Adobe Captivate)
- Proven experience designing and developing training materials in all modalities, including ILT, eLearning, video scripts
- Proven use of multiple learning activities and linking appropriate methods to learners and desired learning objectives
- Showed strength in assessing training efficiency and return on investment to partners and leaders
- Demonstrated ability to create content in a clean and polished style with an eye for detail
- Is comfortable participating in peer reviews, and ensuring design standards are met
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various partners and communicate feedback effectively
- Is a versatile self-starter and quick learner who can adjust to changing scope and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Shown success building collaborative relationships with team members, cross-functional partners, as well as external team members.
- Is a great teammate who is personally committed to fostering team spirit and success
- Exhibits a can-do attitude and takes initiative to creatively tackle problems in an upbeat and collaborative manner
