The Instructional Design Developer is a key member of the Extra Space Storage Learning and Development Team. This position develops learning content that is created, maintained, and delivered via various modalities including: e-learning, in-person training, and various collaborative platforms. The assets developed will maximize company strategic initiatives, as well as departmental and individual goals.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design highly effective and engaging learning experiences, using Adult Learning Theory and today's Instructional Systems Design (ISD) principles, that result in skill attainment and enhanced employee performance.
- Partner strategically with key stakeholders, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and learners themselves to uncover true training needs through observation, questioning, and analysis.
- Evaluate, test, and implement new instructional tools, technologies, and/or methods to improve and shorten the learning curve to skill mastery and performance.
- Design and produce content to support a blended training approach: interactive eLearning, video, micro-content, PowerPoint, and Instructor Lead Training (ILT) and Virtual Instructor Lead Training (VILT).
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Specifications
- Experience with an e-learning authoring tool and PowerPoint is required
- Experience with learning and development, learning management systems, and social media platforms is required
- Experience with Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop and Illustrator), Affinity, Camtasia, and/or Vyond is preferred, but not required
- Experience with a cloud-based interactive guidance and engagement platform, such as WalkMe, is a plus
- Experience with Multimedia or video/audio editing, a plus
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Psychology, English, Communications, or related field
- Minimum two years of experience developing learning strategies, online modules, in-person training, quizzes, surveys, exams, and other learning tools needed to proactively educate a broad workforce culture
