About You and The Role  

We’re looking for a Head of Brand Design to shape the future of the Zipline brand as we scale globally. As the first full-time designer at Zipline, you’ll set our creative direction and work with leaders in Marketing, People, Product and Operations to  build the Zipline brand and create strategic design activations across surfaces like the website, campaigns, events, and installations – shaping the Zipline brand for years to come. This is a critical role for the company and the right leader will build the design foundation for Zipline that is both differentiated and inspiring.

You’re a systems thinker who’s always several steps ahead and understands the importance and impact of building a brand intentionally and with a high bar for creative excellence. You’re collaborative and enjoy both leading brand design projects and also making sure that your team members have the support and resources they need to create compelling and consistent brand experiences that speak to a diverse set of audiences and customers around the world.

What You'll Do  

  • Implement and oversee the activation of the Zipline brand across all of our channels, web properties and campaigns. 
  • Help establish systems and standards that ensure creative excellence across audiences, geographies and channels
  • Collaborate with a variety of cross-functional teams to develop and maintain consistent tone, identity, creative strategy 
  • Provide creative thought partnership to all parts of the business and make recommendations on directions to improve 
  • Oversee the design and creative work that brings the Zipline brand to life including identity systems, brand marketing, events, demand generation, communications (internal and external), regional marketing, and editorial 
  • Grow the team globally to meet business demands and employee development needs 
  • Manage internal and external creative resources to ensure work achieves project goals, meets the highest quality standards, and is delivered on time and within budget 
  • Present concepts and produced work to stakeholders and internal customers, including senior management, in person and via video/phone 
  • Scope projects and forecast resourcing needs with key stakeholders to prioritize and maximize resources, communicating needs and trade-offs when appropriate
  • Identify opportunities to incorporate emerging marketing/branding trends and digital innovations into creative and marketing strategies 
  • Proactively work to solve problems on behalf of the team 
  • Develop and strengthen brand assets, including style and usage guides, finalized to broad packaging systems in multiple and diverse categories 
  • Research cultural trends and audience insights and imbue data-driven decision-making into the creative development process 
  • Build relationships with leaders across the business, effectively influence decision making and prioritization, and be a champion for our culture and values

What You'll Bring 

  • 10+ years’ experience in Design, most recently in a Head of Design / Creative Director role, inhouse / corporate experience is a must
  • Proven track record of building strong and effective creative teams across disciplines including design and marketing 
  • Deep understanding and expertise in brand-building and creating systems and guidelines while expanding into new markets
  • Strong business acumen, with a solid understanding of how to achieve business objectives while meeting a high bar for design quality 
  • Deep experience scaling brand design systems across multiple markets, including localization, cultural nuance, and sensitivity considerations for international markets. 
  • Proven track record as an individual contributor developing identities and systems for leading B2C and/or B2B brands to create consistent brand experiences across marketing and product surfaces. 
  • Strong ability to provide clear creative direction, career path guidance and timely and helpful feedback to improve creative processes to keep work on budget and schedule
