Overview

As a key member of the Talent Communications team within People & Culture, the Graphic Designer works in a collaborative environment to develop engaging and informative print and digital materials, leveraging Novant Health's brand positioning and identity. The Graphic Designer will also be responsible for periodically preparing presentation materials and informative content for Novant Health executive and senior leadership as it relates to People & Culture objectives and initiatives. The Graphic Designer reports to the Manager of Strategic Initiatives and will assist in conceptualizing new creative approaches, executing on and finalizing deliverables, and presenting concepts and updates to subject matter experts, key stakeholders, and leadership throughout People & Culture and the entire Novant Health organization. Qualifications

  • Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design or Related Field, required.
  • Experience: Three years experience in Graphic Design or related field. Agency experience, preferred.
  • Additional Skills (required):
    • Capable experience in and knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (primarily InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop)
    • Capable experience using Microsoft PowerPoint, with the ability to generate new, well-built templates from scratch utilizing master pages
    • Capable experience using Microsoft Word, with the understanding of how to insert and position graphics and other elements anywhere on a page
    • Portfolio of existing work showcasing independent judgment, prior experience in and design thinking around branding, print design and page layout, and digital asset creation. Bonus points for being able to show case studies behind branding projects specifically and/or a range of logo explorations going into each mark.
    • Clear understanding of the difference between CMYK and RGB color spaces
    • Understanding and experience using the Pantone color system
    • Good oral communication skills and an ability to explain design-related concepts simply
    • Strong skills in problem solving, time management, prioritizing, organizing, researching
    • Ability to meet fixed deadlines with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
    • Ability to work with colleagues in a wide range of disciplines and strong organizational skills
  • Additional Skills (preferred):
    • Portfolio demonstrates ability and experience in print production (including generating final/mechanical files), and candidate has at least some experience going "on press"
    • Experience using Figma (preferred) or Sketch to design digital deliverables, from social media images to entire websites
    • Candidate can succinctly and immediately explain to a layperson if prompted the differences between vector and bitmap images and the differences and specific uses of CMYK and RGB color spaces and the purpose of the Pantone color system
    • Experience creating and writing brand guidelines documents
    • Experience creating motion graphics in After Effects
    • Experience with art direction at an ad agency
    • Experience with art directing or producing photo and/or video shoots, particularly commercial video shoots
